Native Names: IMIX [ee’meesh], IMOX [ee’mosh] Common Mayan Usage: root, waters Qualities: source of life, divine nurturance and support, primordial Mother, undivided primal waters, primal trust and nourishment, receptivity Symbol: spiral vortex on the primordial waters, dragon, alligator Number: one (unity) Colour: burgundy Element: earth Direction: east

Shadow Wisdom: issues of deep, primal trust and survival; feeling unsupported by divine nurturance or unworthy to receive Shadow Transformation: Trust in the larger pattern to provide what you need. Open to receive. Communicate your feelings, desires, and dreams. Harmonic Wisdom: frequency

Mudra: hands cradling each other comfortably at the level of the abdomen

Meditation: “Primordial cauldron of mystery, spiraling vortex, quicken me—stir in me—primal trust in your love.” Affirmation: “I trust unconditionally the source of divine nurturance.”

The Journeyer

Imix represents the root source of life, the nurturance and support of primary being, and within it are found the primal waters of unity. This is where your deepest roots receive true nourishment. Imix is the energy of form contained within the formlessness of the primordial sea.

Primal trust means making choices with no guarantees, knowing that divine nurturance will provide what is needed for your journey. It means making choices moment by moment, implicitly trusting your innate steering mechanism of heart-knowing. Primal trust implies surrendering to the will of the divine self, letting go of what your ego deems to be control of the outcomes in your life. It means deeply trusting the processes that are at work within your present spiral of evolution.

The energy of Imix asks you to embrace the depth of your receptivity. Perhaps you have been taught that it is better to give than to receive. Giving is a powerful way to learn how to receive, but it is not the whole picture. There is a circuit of completion in giving and receiving that happens within you and in your external world at the same time. If you trust unconditionally in the giving, you are not attached to how the gift is received. When you freely give, you fill your cup with sweet waters, which you can then offer innocently and purely to another. Know, on one level, that your gift is poured out universally regardless of how it appears to be received. However, when the gift comes from the ego, it is limited by expectations and conditions. Love just is. It is neither given nor taken; rather it is simply discovered and allowed.

The universe is an inseparable whole. Imix represents the energy matrix lines that look like a web in the universe, through which all points are connected in time and space. This energetic web of communication is known as the ‘crystal grid network.’ It is a cauldron of creation, a potent field in which all things are not only possible but constantly being created. Within this grid, the linear causality of time and space has been freed into an open system in which all time and all space exist and interact simultaneously. This grid connects the larger holograms of reality with our own. Its energy lines connect all places, times and events – even those that are seemingly unrelated. All phenomena and all actions are part of this larger whole; it is the very foundation for telepathy and synchronicity. Imix embodies unity, in which all things are one with the Source.

Shadow Wisdom and Transformation

In the shadow of Imix are found issues of trust. This can appear as a lack of basic trust in the Source to nurture you and provide what is needed for your journey. Perhaps you do not trust in life’s transformational process to bring you the perfect lessons and gifts required for your growth. Primal trust implies the understanding that there are no mistakes and no victims – only lessons, gifts, and growth processes on the way to wholeness. If you perceive that there are no mistakes as you move toward wholeness, then learning to trust the transformational process becomes much easier.

Trusting, however, does not mean acting blindly without awareness or waiting without action; it means moving forward with and learning from your journey of experience. No matter what the appearance, whatever manifests in your world actually holds potential gifts on the path to wholeness. In the cycle of giving and receiving, trust is like the lubricant that eases the way for the transformational process. And when you understand that every particle of the universe is made up of love, then trusting can be perceived as a natural state of being.

In the shadow of Imix are hidden feelings of unworthiness to receive, often manifested as embarrassment or discomfort when others offer you something. These feelings can stem from many places. Often then stem from early childhood, when your gifts may not have been received or when you heard that “it is better to give than to receive.” Or perhaps you developed a reality based on praise for being “self-sufficient” or not owing anyone anything. Regardless of the source, these feelings spring from only a partial truth. You are intrinsically worthy to receive, simply because you are. Love just is, and you are part of the cycle of love.

In the shadow of Imix, you may also be overly identified with being a source of support and nurturance for others – the caretaker or a “cosmic mama.” Giving without receiving is limiting. In Western society we are unknowingly taught to be dependent and co-dependent. Perhaps from an inability or unwillingness to nurture and support yourself, you have abandoned yourself for another. Perhaps you expect that other to know intuitively what your needs are and to meet them without direct communication.

As an example, the shadow of Imix might say, “If they really loved me, they would understand how I feel”; or “If I have to ask for it, it’s not worth it.” In other words, you may be avoiding responsibility for being aware of and communicating your own desires and feelings. In the shadow of Imix there is the belief that love is magical, that relationships should just “happen,” and that love is a need rather than a natural state of being.

If you are in the shadow of Imix, you are being encouraged to step into the primal waters of your being to discover the core of your self-acceptance, your intrinsic value, your own wholeness. Find the wellspring of your feelings. Be willing to explore more fully and honestly, expressing your true desires, dreams, and truths.

Native Names: IK [eek], IQ Common Mayan Usage: air, wind Qualities: spirit, breath, wind, inspiration, presence, truth, co-creator of reality, simplicity, unseen forces, integration of polarities Symbol: spiral whirlwind, hummingbird Number: two (polarity) Colour: translucent white light Element: air Direction: north

Shadow Wisdom: doubting your connection to divinity; issues of separation; thinking you are separate from Spirit Shadow Transformation: Learn to sense and experience your connection with the Divine by acting on inspiration as it comes to you. Harmonic Wisdom: interval

Mudra: hands open beneath the mouth, blowing the breath of the Spirit Wind; then moving hands up, out, and around, ending with hands together as if in prayer

Meditation: “I am the fertilizing and loamy force of the cosmic wind.” Affirmation: “I am the unified presence of Spirit.

The Journeyer

Ik is the galactic wind, the catalyzing current, the Spirit that moves through all things. It is the divine breath that gives life to all creation, the unseen essence of solar energy. Ik is the breath of inspiration, the fertilizing force of the wind. Its essence is the movement of Spirit as it penetrates into form to enliven, purify and inspire.

Receive the gift of Ik by simply taking a conscious breath. Amidst the seeming complexity, breathe consciously. Allow your life to be more like the wind, free-flowing and open to Spirit.

Ik represents spontaneity and simplicity. As you experience the truth of the present moment, Ik leaves you free to move on to the next moment without the baggage of desire, regret or expectation. Ik is the simple knowledge that invisible forces are always moving in your life, guiding and inspiring.

Ik also embodies the concept of presence. Presence is an expression of being-ness, a creator of intimacy. It has to do with being wise in your simplicity. From simple being-ness, your true identity emerges. Presence is being open, aware, and in the now. Presence is “being there” for whatever is.

Think back to a time when someone looked deeply into your eyes, acknowledging your being-ness with their full presence. Remember how wonderful and intimate that felt. When you want to be intimate with someone, become equally open, aware, and present. When you bring your awareness into the present moment, everything else falls away. When you are fully present, your mind is not preparing responses to what it is hearing while you’re listening and feeling. Drop your evaluating and reactive nature. Trust that your heart will have the appropriate response when the time comes. Allow your mind to be quietly responsive, like a pool of water, natural in its unconditional acceptance of the moment.
Presence is simple. It is like being caught in the moment by the beauty of nature. Presence is your natural state of being. When you are present, your heart feels open, charged, full. When you are present, whether alone or with another, you are loose and relaxed. Time may seem to slow down. You can expand your awareness with ease, allowing yourself to truly see and be seen. You let your feelings speak through your eyes, and the “feeling channel” in you breathes freely, without expectation or judgment.

Another gift offered through Ik is the integration of polarities within you. Polarity is the loom on which reality is strung, the magnetic dance of universal forces playing in grand cooperation. But polarity is also an important alchemical process used in the transmutation of form and matter. We are now poised in a time when duality is transforming into unity. The polarities held in relationships, our male and female aspects – even the manifestation of karma – are all changing. We are moving into a time when the polar aspects of all things are coming together in truth. You are the creative field for the integration of the larger pattern of duality. The potential in all relationships is moving toward trust, openness, and unconditional acceptance.

The Maya had a special relationship to Venus because of its “unified polarity,” seen in the ability to transform itself from the morning star to the evening star. As we unite our polarities (which can be seen as our male and female aspects), we mirror the divine feminine and masculine aspects that are presently uniting in order to birth the consciousness of the divine child within us. This unification is a state of wholeness that frees and enhances, permeating our beings on all levels.

Getting in touch with your male and female aspects and how you perceive them is an integral part of the alchemical process that brings them harmony. You can begin the process of integrating polarities through an increased understanding of the awareness in both sides of your body. The right side generally represents the male, the left side, the female. In meditation, observe the qualities of each side. Bring out their issues, fears, strengths, and potentials. Feel them. Move with them. Talk to them. Create and draw images. Make sounds. Write about them. Explore their relationships. Then, taking as much time as you need, allow them to flow together, unified in solar androgyny. Freeing past perceptions, claim harmony, healing, and love, and bring that new sense of unity into the present moment.

Shadow Wisdom and Transformation

In the shadow of Ik, you may doubt your oneness with the Source, feeling that divinity is outside yourself. Not realizing your ability to respond as a co-creator of your reality, you may tend to leave everything up to Spirit. Yet you are Spirit, so it is up to you! If you are waiting, feeling separated from inspiration, attract it through the clarity of your own spiritual intent. Call it forth to manifest in your life.

Being aligned and unified with Spirit, imagine yourself being infused and purified, clearing your neural circuitry with the frequency of Ik. The transformation held in this shadow can be found in experiencing the inspiration of Spirit, no matter how subtle your perception of it is. Follow your innate guidance. Act on inspiration as it comes to you, without analyzing it. And remember: the breath of Spirit can be as subtle as a fragrance in a breeze. Learn to sense and experience it.

Another indication of the shadow of Ik is feeling constrained by the forms and idioms of organized groups or religions. If you’re in this shadow, alarms may go off when you hear words like ceremony, ritual, archetype, heaven, or God. In the Mayan system, words are held in a larger context than is implied in ordinary usage. The word heaven, for example, denotes a particular vibrational frequency and harmonic resonance. There are probably many forms of meditation, ceremony, prayer, and other practices that could serve your spiritual evolution. Appreciate the truth in all forms! Be willing to look at subconscious programs that may impair the experience of forms that do serve your spiritual unfoldment. Consciously release judgments, resentments, or hidden wounds you may have about organized groups and religions and their participants or practices.

Learn to sense and experience your connection with the Divine by acting on inspiration as it comes to you.

Native Names: AKBAL [ak’bal], AQAB AL Common Mayan Usage: night, house Qualities: abyss, mystery, sanctuary, serenity, “looks-within” place, enclosing darkness, journey into self, stillness, dreamtime, dream field matrix, dream exploration Symbol: womb, abyss, dark cave, bat Number: three (rhythm) Colour: black Element: water Direction: west

Shadow Wisdom: viewpoint too internal and subjective; depression, self-judgment, fear of change Shadow Transformation: Be willing to examine how you judge and evaluate yourself. Embrace and follow your inner shadow processes to learn from your gifts. Harmonic Wisdom: integration

Mudra: eyes closed, hands together at waist, palms up, bowing forward; then rise upright, crossing forearms on chest

Meditation: “I am the darkness that is the Light and the Stillness that is the dancing.” (T. S. Eliot) Affirmation: “I pilgrimage deep within, to the sanctuary of self, to garner the gifts awaiting me there.”

The Journeyer

Akbal is the dark mystery within, the journey into self, that place to which you can always retreat to garner the gifts of your process subjectively. You are being asked to enter into and explore your process subjectively. Akbal is the immense field of potential found in the depths of human emotion and feeling. The touch of Akbal is like the moment you crawl into bed and feel yourself surrounded by warmth, darkness and peace.

Akbal’s abyss holds the potent evolutionary playing field of all possibility. Here, as in the aboriginal dreamtime, there are no distinctions between then and now, real or imagined, dream or dreamer. In this expanded field, all things are not only possible but are constantly in the process of creation. In the framework of dreamtime, limiting constructs of “ordinary reality” such as time, space, and linear causality are freed into an expanded system, with unlimited access to all realities.

Dreamtime holds powerful opportunities. It is a field where potential, past, and future are held in the same matrix as the present moment. If such a construct is foreign to you, stretch your mind and entertain the possibility that you could help to dream a different reality into being. Enter into the mystery where reality is actually created.

In becoming a conscious dreamer, you can assist in literally creating a new reality for yourself, as well as contributing to the larger dream that is emerging. By focusing on this creation, your thoughts and intentions are projected at superluminal speeds across the crystal grid network that encompasses universes. This energetic field seeds, supports, and empowers the creation of an unfolding reality.

At a certain point, when a critical threshold of energy has been focused on a clear intent such as world peace, the underlying constructs of reality shift and a new reality begins filtering into human experience. Make no mistake: great change is seeded by conscious dreamers who understand and know that they are co-creating the larger dream.

Akbal, knower of the night, keeper of the unconscious house, offers dreamtime as a lens for processing waking reality. Behind the doors of your dreams are powerful symbols of self, dancing in masks and metaphors. Akbal asks you to explore the symbols in your dreams.

There are many systems for working with dream imagery, from Jungian dream work to shamanism. One simple way is to look at a dream as if you were each aspect of it. Enact or “become” various parts of the dream in turn, bringing the unconscious material to conscious awareness. Writing, toning, dancing, and doodling can all help to integrate your unconscious dream images.

If you have difficulty remembering your dreams, a helpful procedure is to set an alarm clock for an hour earlier than your normal waking time. After the alarm rings, consciously go back to sleep, focusing on your dream process. Then, when you awaken, tape record or explore in a journal what you have received. Ask for guidance to be revealed in your dreams. Often the last image you receive offers a key metaphor that can guide you.

Dreaming is the nexus where your personal mythology and universal archetypal realities merge. Akbal represents the sanctuary where the journey into self interfaces with the larger hologram. Within the larger dream we are now birthing, dimensional realities are shifting and blending. Perhaps you have believed that your dream life was separate from your waking life. As you work with your dreams, this belief may change dramatically. Don’t be surprised if you begin to discover “leaky margins” between perceptually “separate” realities and much more “bleed-through” between your dreams and your conscious, waking state. Now realities are merging. In the emerging reality construct, you are literally dreaming both your personal myth and the greater “meta-myth” into existence.

A powerful way of gaining insight into the nature of reality is through Tibetan dream yoga, or lucid dreaming. This is the practice of focusing conscious awareness on the illusory nature of reality, becoming lucid in life. It can be experienced in either the waking or the dream state – primarily through realizing that life is all a dream. In the dream state, this may seem easier because you experience the illusion of the dream as well as the freedom it offers. In lucid dreaming, you “apprehend” or recognize the dream while dreaming. This practice is the art of bringing your consciousness into the dream, purposefully altering it while learning about the transparent and illusory nature of reality. Through conscious dreaming, you are free to explore, create, and allow all realities.

Dream yoga is like sinking through the eye of a needle, threading your consciousness into different realities. As you become absorbed into the symbols and metaphors of the dream itself, you gain the gifts that each metaphor symbolically holds. Through such absorption, you are freed from attachments and the feeling of separation. You become one with truth. By freeing yourself from attachments, you discover your unobstructed nature.

The dreamtime matrix unfolds in waking reality as well as in sleep. All that you are and all that you hold, from issues and beliefs to hopes and dreams, shapes your personal dream field. From this field, you attract that which will bring about your completion and wholeness.

Akbal invites you to bring the issues in your dream field out of the darkness and into conscious awareness. One example of such an issue might be unstated anger. If you hold unexpressed anger, someone in your immediate dream field will probably pick up that issue and mirror it for you so that you can observe and learn from it. This is the nature of spiritual evolution: each part of the hologram reflects every other part, so that each can be observed and learned from. Bringing these hidden parts into conscious awareness gives you the opportunity to transform them.

Among other things, the dream field will bring to the surface your psychological polarities and core issues. These are the belief constructs you learn from society and experience, such as likes and dislikes, values and attitudes. You naturally attract the situation that promises integration, but through conditioning and habitual behavior, you may choose to compensate, staying in a fixed pattern to protect your position. This choice will create only momentary relief, because the issues will keep being drawn back to be integrated. Thus, you may often find whatever is blocked or hidden manifesting into your consciousness through a dream, a body symptom, or a relationship. Often you may resist the new and the unknown. You may avoid going over your “growth edge”, because it may be asking for a shift in your underlying belief structures. Yet profound growth is possible through working with this charged material. Through following it into the darkness, you bring into the dream field the light that will carry you to wholeness and fulfillment.

In working with the growth edge in your dream field, often it is important to catalyze enough energy to free the fixed patterns. By following or amplifying the feeling, your increased awareness will lead to the root of the issue that has been separated from consciousness. Hidden within the unused channels of your perception are clues to the mystery that will integrate and release the restrictive pattern.

A meditation for Akbal is, “I am the darkness that is the light and the stillness that is the dancing.” This meditation perfectly describes the paradoxical energy of Akbal, the place of darkness from which all light emanates, the no-form abyss that contains all possibility. In finding this still point of Akbal, you can access any expression of the light. The energy of Akbal simply asks you to be still, to allow that expression to take shape from the darkness. From the darkness of Akbal emerges the Essence Self. Sit in stillness, embracing the journey of insight and integration.

The colour of Akbal is black, which represents the womb of the larger self, the receptive condition necessary to receive the light fully. Black is also an access route to the wisdom of the unconscious, the mystery of the abyss where you can tap into the collective dream field for insight and creative ideas. Akbal also includes the shades of grey, symbolic of the merging of light with the darkness. If you wish to work with the energy of Akbal, visualize black.

Shadow Wisdom and Transformation

One indication of the shadow of Akbal is being lost in self, being too inward and subjective. Some experience this subjectivity as depression. Yet from this place you can learn to face and free your deepest fears. Instead of resisting this process, embrace it, garnering its wisdom. Go deep inside and discover the positive intent that is held in your experience. What is it trying to show you that you have not been willing to look at? If you can go through your being frozen, you can find unexpected insights and gifts in the apparent darkness.

A great opportunity for looking within can also be found in recognizing how you judge and evaluate yourself. Self-judgment impairs access to your own intrinsic wisdom. Judgment of how you “should” be affects your process. Perhaps your conditioned beliefs have become harsh tools of comparison and classification. To “be” is not a specific goal; being is simply the innocence that is regained through acceptance of self.

Freed from judgment and labels, your journey naturally opens to growth. It is OK to make “mistakes” along your way. From life, you have created the “house” you live in and from which you see the world. Now is the time to go within and reveal your essence, to break the bonds of the old structures. In this process, it is only natural to feel vulnerable. You are breaking up the blockages and barriers around the heart of self. You are creating a new “home” in Essence Self, a sanctuary within the serenity of innocence.

Self-judgment also intensifies issues of self-worth and feelings of separation. You are intrinsically worthy. Become aware of anything that suggests you are not worthy to receive all that you desire.

Self-judgment can seriously hamper your evolution. Love yourself. Remember: beliefs that are ready to be transformed show you the way through their shadows. Be willing to follow your process into seeming darkness and discomfort, to find the gifts being offered there. Akbal can help to show you that apparent enclosures and limitations are only opportunities to learn.

Akbal may also signal an unconscious fear of change, from deep core issues to the fear of life’s lessons. A unique opportunity beckons and transformation awaits; where the illusions of fear have been separated from consciousness, the gifts of integration and wholeness are found. What appears to be contraction into self will eventually bring you full circle, like the in-yang symbol, into a more fluid and expanded state. Going deep within, Akbal teaches you its greatest truth: what is contained in darkness holds the greatest potential for light.

Native Names: KAN [k’an], KAT Common Mayan Usage: seed, corn, iguana Qualities: seed, seeding manifestation, self-germination, creation, fertile ground, gestation, opening, erupting possibility Symbol: well-rooted seedling, solar plexus, spider Number: four (measure and cycles) Color: saffron yellow Element: fire Direction: south

Shadow Wisdom: feelings of insecurity; limiting of new possibilities; choosing to remain safe at the expense of awakening and growth; restricted self-concept Shadow Transformation: Realize that you and your life are the fertile ground, that you awaken your own dreams and possibilities. Free yourself from the illusion of safety as you enter into the manifestation of emerging possibility. Harmonic Wisdom: progression

Mudra: hands cupped over each other at solar plexus, as if holding a seed; then opening your hands, offering the seed into your life

Meditation: “I am the bodhi-mandala, the seed possibility erupting.” Affirmation: “I am the fertile ground and the self-germinating seed of possibility.

The Journeyer

Kan is the ordered pattern of growth. You and your life are the fertile soil, and the mystery blooms within you through the power of your intention or seed thoughts. Just as a seed contains the hologram of its completion, the process of manifestation follows a natural order. In this gestation process, your intention is quickened by Spirit. The charged seed, your true desire or vision, becomes the focus for germination.

What can you open that will support receptivity and assist the germination of your seed intentions? Envision the seed receiving the invitation to grow in the openness of your world. Viscerally feel the possibility of your heart’s dream emerging. Your true desires and dreams contain an innate intelligence that can break through even the rigidity of fixed expectations. Planting a new seed, even in the hard soil of old belief systems, can bring unexpected magic and growth.

Be willing to break open the constraining shells of past patterns, the shackles of belief structures. Call forth your creative involvement with life. This involvement frees and awakens the powerful energy of the life force, shifting your perceptions and experience, catalyzing the manifestation of your dreams. Participate spontaneously in your growth, unrestricted by the illusion of old structures that once provided safety. Move forward into the light of new possibilities.

Offer your dream-seed to the universe. In the ordered patterning of the light, align with your heart’s greater purpose. In gratitude, surrender and release the seed to the benefit of your growth and its own pattern of perfection.

Kan encompasses an ordered pattern of light known as entelechy, the power that directs an organism toward the fulfillment of its own nature. Kan is a symbol of this natural, ordered power. Within any seed is the hologram of both its potential and the fulfillment of its true nature. All possibility exists within the seed; it is informed directly from the ordered patterning of the light. That is to say, the perfect unfolding of a seed’s potential is determined at each stage of its growth. Often we are caught in the maze of mind, looking for answers when, through our innate tropism to the light, our perfect pattern of growth would unfold with joyful ease.
Tropism is the tendency to respond or move toward something by natural attraction. Through a code inherent within, a sprouted seed grows toward the light and a sunflower follows the Sun. In like manner, you respond to the light of your Essence Self, opening naturally to the fulfillment of your true nature. Through your own process of living and learning, you generate and plant various intentions and desires. As your natural growth pattern is catalyzed and awakened, your truth germinates in wisdom, emerging into the light in which all seeds flourish. Thus, as you plant your own truth, more truth comes to light. In this way, you create ever more fertile ground in which to explore and express all that you are.

The number for Kan is four, the vibration of measure. This is the number of cycles and seasons. It represents the ordered patterning of the light wherein, as José Argüelles says, “form learns to generate its own seed.” The number four represents the freed pattern of form, the germination of specific seeds co-created with Spirit. If you are in the process of seeding something, meditate with the number four and the energy of Kan to assist you.

Shadow Wisdom and Transformation

One of the shadows of Kan is acting as the unawakened seed, the sleeper who wants to remain protected and invulnerable. In this shadow you may think you are serving yourself through this illusion of safety and security. Yet if you maintain distance from the world of possibilities outside your shell, your new horizons are kept at a distance. Take a risk, and reveal all that you are! Beyond the confines of definitions and self-concepts and the security of everyday patterns, the excitement of unknown possibilities beckons.

Examine how protective limitations affect your natural growth. Such issues are reflected in phrases like, “My world works just the way it is”; “I can’t do that”; “I’m just fine the way I am”; or “I feel too inadequate.” The same wall that is intended to create safety and security also builds a barrier that limits Spirit from creating new possibilities in your life.

One way to access the transformation offered in the shadow of Kan is to realize that the seeds – your dreams, desires, and destiny – lie waiting within you to be awakened. In accepting that you are the fertile ground, you feel the authentic safety and security within, and the outside world becomes ripe with new possibilities.

Native Names: CHICCHAN [cheek’chan], KAN Common Mayan Usage: serpent Qualities: vitality, passion, sensing, body wisdom, motivation, desire, instinct, creativity, serpent, kundalini, integration, purification, intimacy Symbol: coiled snake arising from molten magma, base chakra Number: five (center) Colour: flaming vermillion (red-orange) Element: earth Direction: east

Shadow Wisdom: making predictable choices based on familiarity and security rather than on intuitive wisdom; over-identification with the body and its sensual desires Shadow Transformation: Use the body as a tool for transformation. Learn how to use passion and the senses as a means of access and alignment to higher consciousness. Follow your gut-level intuitions and instincts to make choices in the moment. Harmonic Wisdom: tempo

Mudra: hands coming together at abdomen and interweaving in snakelike movements at the chakras, ending with hands together above the head

Meditation: “I am the flint and tinder of the sacred fire. Affirmation: “I joyfully access and experience the wisdom and vitality held in my body.

The Journeyer

“I am the flint and tinder of the sacred fire,” reads the meditation for Chicchan. In the Great Mystery, flint and tinder represent the instinctive combustion that initiates movement in the physical body toward union with Spirit. When flint and tinder are brought together, the spark of divinity awakens and ignites the fire of your essence. Chicchan invites the purifying spark of the sacred fire, the Kundalini, to align and integrate your body, mind and spirit. Chicchan can help you uncover apparent blockages in specific chakras to clear an align them. If you are working on a process of purification, invite Chicchan to assist you.

Chicchan’s symbol is the serpent, representing healing and wholeness. This Mayan medicine can remove toxins, rejuvenate and transform dis-ease. Chicchan is also known by the Maya as the Kultanlilni, or Kundalini, the energy that moves up from the base of the spine and out through the crown chakra. There are two aspects of this force, the ida and the pingala, representing its male and female polarities. One of the ancient secrets of Chicchan is the activation of higher states of consciousness through balancing these two polarities so that they dance within us as one. Another metaphor for this serpent energy comes from the Mayan words luk umen tun ben can, or “those absorbed by the serpent of the sacred knowledge.” When the seven chakras are fully activated, one experiences an enlightened state.

Chicchan represents the basic structural apparatus of your motivations, instincts, desires, and your innate movement toward wholeness. Chicchan asks you to shed the skin of your past and step into the fires of alchemical transmutation. In this, rebirth is revealed. This desire is an innate response encoded in the depths of your being.

With the energy of Chicchan, you learn to use the innate intelligence of the body. In this culture you may have become separated from this wisdom. It works like this: when you suppress and ignore your issues, your body receives and retains the unconscious metaphors of that which is ignored. This may be expressed through physical symptoms that bring your unconscious issues to conscious awareness. When this happens, work toward a more conscious relationship with your body – and work with the physical metaphors in order to heal yourself on all levels.
The body has a specific kind of consciousness through which messages are clearly delivered. In fact, the body itself is a living metaphor that mirrors your mind, emotions and spirit. However, the body also remembers all it has experienced, and consequently holds the consciousness of the past within it, including past wounds and traumas. In healing these, remember the innocence of your body. Treat it with love and respect. Open yourself to be aware of its messages and metaphors rather than storing them. Be willing to look at the positive intent beneath any symptoms or physical process your body is using to communicate. Explore whatever it may be asking you to see.

In this alignment process, you can use images or energies that come to you in meditation or dreams. Journey through your body to catalyze and explore any sensations, colours, shapes, or images. In these times we have a profound opportunity to transcend both our physical and our spiritual genetics. The body’s integration provides an unparalleled opportunity for personal evolution. Learn to expand and utilize your senses to access your body’s wisdom and vitality. Don’t “think” about it; simply allow your body to sense intuitively the solutions necessary for change and growth.

Chicchan also represents the connection between powerful physical/ecstatic experiences and the light of higher consciousness. This is an initiation of awakening through the body and senses, rather than in negation of them. As José Argüelles says in The Mayan Factor, “Like the Maya, we shall understand that the path to the stars is through the senses.” Within the body are held the keys to fully awakening our consciousness. This deeper understanding is expressed in tantric practices, where spirituality and sexuality are integrated and honored as a means to enlightenment. Chicchan represents the integration of mind, body and spirit.

Be willing to look at issues you have concerning intimacy and sexuality. Make sure that you are not separated from the dance of passion that is in union with your divine nature. Sense your deeper desire for union and intimacy. Chicchan calls on you to awaken your vitality, body wisdom, and passion for life.

Chicchan is associated with the sacred tools of the drum and the rattle. Drums and rattles can break down old patterns or bring energy into alignment.

The number of Chicchan is five, the vibration of center. In Chicchan, your center is represented by the central axis of your spine, around which universal energy spirals. This bar symbolizes the human foundation within the individual self, the foundation from which wholeness is awakened. Five also represents the human hand, the grasp of humanity.

The harmonic wisdom of Chicchan is tempo, the rate at which a given piece of music is played. This rate of natural unfoldment is found in the tempo set by the intrinsic nature of each organism. Every living thing has an “internal clock”, a natural rhythm of spiritual unfoldment much like that encoded in a seed. The natural timing for the dance of the Kundalini serpent is as unique as the timing for the opening of any blossom.

Shadow Wisdom and Transformation

Chicchan represents the reptilian brain. This part of the brain thrives on routine, pattern and predictability. If you are in the shadow of Chicchan, you may be living your life on “automatic pilot,” appearing to be separated from choices motivated by your Essence Self. Utilize the power of Chicchan to create spontaneity and novelty, freeing the predictability of the routine and habitual.

The shadow of Chicchan can also be seen as adherence to cultural beliefs. One example of this is having the “right” diet, car, house, meditation practice, and so on. Another is wanting others to fit your picture of desirability or fulfill your desires, in order to create a feeling of security and self-worth. Transform these patterns. Discover your own intrinsic motives. Sense the novel choices available to you. Practice making decisions intuitively and spontaneously. You are being asked to connect instinct with essence.

Another shadow of Chicchan is being attached to the physical body or being enmeshed in sensual desires. Perhaps you identify so much with your body and how it looks that you think your body is you. This can support the illusion of separation from your Essence Self. Work with the issues and physical desires held within your body. Step aside from your self-judgments and issues of sexual expression. Utilize Chicchan to fully experience sexuality in alignment with love. See the body as a sacred tool for transformation. Step aside from judging the sexual preferences and expressions of yourself and others.
Hidden in the dark recesses of this shadow are issues of sexual dysfunction, sexual harassment, rape, sexual abuse, and the fear around AIDS and sexually transmitted diseases. Chicchan offers transformation and healing. Revealed in these shadow issues of sexuality is a desire for deeper union, love, and intimacy. Some people feel intimacy only during infatuation or romantic interludes and lovemaking; however, intimacy is the mutual connection between essences. It is the ability to acknowledge the depths of another person, and it can be fostered through many kinds of sharing, including that of feelings and vulnerabilities, warmth and affection, and hopes and fears. Explore what it means to be intimate with another, remembering that intimacy is an open door to higher state of consciousness.

The transformation offered in this shadow is found in learning to love yourself and others unconditionally.

Native Names: CIMI [kee’mee], KEME Common Mayan Usage: death Qualities: surrender, release, death, transmutation, forgiveness, humility, revelation Symbols: six-sided crystal in roots, evergreen tree, moss (growth in death), owl Number: six (organic balance) Colour: forest green Element: air Direction: north

Shadow Wisdom: feeling the need to be in control; fear of death; depression; struggle and resistance Shadow Transformation: Surrender to the pattern of perfection. Listen to the part of you that is calling for death and transformation. Receive its wisdom. Harmonic Wisdom: serenity

Mudra: hold hands together under right cheek, as if sleeping; then cross arms on chest while bowing; finally, raise head with crossed arms in front of eyes

Meditation: “I am the fuel, mulch, and fodder for the destruction of all obstacles to reconstruction in God. Affirmation: “I release. I let go. I surrender. I forgive.”

The Journeyer

In this life-time you are being asked to release and surrender. Surrender is the opposite of giving up. It is freeing yourself from the desire to be in control, letting go of how you think things should be. Surrender is freedom. You are being invited to release yourself from the bondage of preconceived action, to let everything be all right as it is, so that you can live a more inspired life in the moment!

You are being asked to take action in the process of surrender and release. You are requested to die a symbolic death, to surrender your limiting beliefs. Symbolic death unveils the self by cutting away the outgrown parts of yourself that no longer serve you. In such death, ego structures fall away to reveal the garden of the true self. Look for new ways of being, new people, new ideas, and new directions that will move into the vacuum created through surrender and release. Like yeast, surrender enlivens and empowers you to experience more of life’s fullness.

Holding on to past patterns and grievances only limits the possibilities. Forgive yourself. Forgive others. Let go. Surrender whatever limits you. Face whatever you are resisting. In the experience of any loss, it is never too late to complete. Through your willingness to walk in the dark forest, insights and revelations will naturally emerge.

Cimi teaches you to let go and be. It represents the death of outgrown parts of the small self, which can be used as fodder or fuel for the regeneration into a more expanded self. The energy that is generated from the transformation of these parts creates a refinement of your spirit. Also, by burning off the dross of the small self, a vacuum is created, drawing new people, ideas, and directions into your life.

In the past, an old behavior or belief system may have created a way for you to temporarily feel better about yourself by supporting your ego structure. As that ego structure is burned off, you create a pathway for Spirit to fully satisfy the same needs. Through your willingness to walk in the dark forest, the gifts of insight and revelation are provided.

Accept the truth of your present situation. Through accepting what is, you are free to go forward. Change and growth become easier and more natural. Each experience in this enlivened state of surrender allows for more joy.

The colour for Cimi is forest green. You, like the symbol of the evergreen tree, are alive and green amidst the process of apparent death and transformation of winter. Green creates a feeling of balance and restful calm. It is restorative and healing, grounding, and centering. If you wish to access the power of Cimi, visualize forest green.

Shadow Wisdom and Transformation

If you find yourself disturbed by or denying any painful processes, be willing to look at how you might embrace death. Death is a natural part of transformation. Sometimes we are brought to experience symbolic deaths such as loss, divorce, illness, or separation from others. Embrace these seemingly dark or difficult experiences; they will release you from attachments and expectations, clearing you to more fully receive the light. If you find yourself in a dark corner of depression or despair, Cimi offers you a lifeline, a way out. Allow your burdens to be lifted into the sweet release and forgiveness of Cimi. Don’t give up. There is always someone somewhere who can help you. Reach out to a friend, a loved one, a therapist. Know that you are comforted and supported in love’s unconditional embrace.

Another shadow of Cimi is the desire to be in control, which can move into fear of death. This fear may be expressed as an imbalance in your physical, mental or emotional well-being, or as an exaggerated focus on the body, health, money or addictive activities. Look at the consequences and possibilities that would be presented by your symbolic death. The transformation offered in Cimi is found in surrender, release and forgiveness. Through awareness and clear intention, old patterns can magically shift, offering you a loving hand that shows a new way.

Native Names: MANIK [man’eek], KIEJ Common Mayan Usage: grasp, deer Qualities: completion, gateway, opening, beauty, identification, dance, mudras, divination, acting “as if”, spiritual tools, priest/priestess Symbol: tsunami, hand Number: seven (mystic power) Colour: magnetic blue Element: water Direction: west

Shadow Wisdom: issues of completing things; taking on too much; feeling inadequate, pressured, or scattered; issues of acquiring tools; thinking the tool has the power Shadow Transformation: Become aware of your resistances and distractions. Learn to finish what you start, taking satisfaction in each step along the way. Use commitment, focused intention, and openness to help you complete. Experience yourself as a tool of the light. Harmonic Wisdom: resolution

Mudra: Hands out on both sides of the head at ear level, forearms perpendicular, with thumbs and forefingers forming an ‘O’

Meditation: “I am, by thinly veiled design, a threshold to other dimensions.” Affirmation: “I complete. I open. I am one with the light.”

The Journeyer

Manik is a gateway, an opening, a portal from one understanding to another. A clue to the meaning of Manik is found in the meditation, “I am, by thinly veiled design, the threshold to other dimensions. In my ending is my beginning. The initiatory gateway awaits.” Manik is the seventh or last archetype in the cycle of development of primary being. It represents the power found in completion. Manik is seen as a closure, which is really an opening to another level of being.

Like the fluidity of moving water, Manik is associated with the process of dance, mudra, and beauty. This movement is a metaphor for the ebb and flow of life. In meditation with Manik, experience the flowing quality that is the beauty of the cosmic dance. Remember this essence and this fluidity at times when your life feels most inflexible or lacking in beauty.

Manik represents the “beauty way”, the ability to see intrinsic beauty within yourself and in all things. Living the beauty way requires being in your full beauty and power. From this place, your self-authority naturally flows. This is the position where your ego is aligned with divine will. When you are standing in your full beauty and power, your very presence invites others to be all that they are. To the Maya, Manik represents the deer, the gentle, serenely aware guide who walks in fluid beauty and grace, opening and revealing.

The essence of Manik is held in the metaphor of a wave. The wave has many stages, from momentum to crest to completion and merging with the ocean once again. Manik connects you to the greater ocean and reveals the shores of your true identity. If you identify with the struggle of eddies and storms, that is the learning you will draw to you. If you identify with your oneness of spirit, by the law of affinity that is what you will become.

The energy of Manik will also help you to manifest spiritual skills – especially those intuitive gifts such as oracular divination. In each incarnation, you bring certain gifts. Each path – from priest and priestess to shaman and dancer to artist and gardener – carries varied tools and skills. You have chosen certain gifts and tools that offer you a way to interact with others and your life process. This may be as simple as calling on your innate wisdom and insight in order to see clearly the gifts and tools that you carry.

Strongly claim in prayer or meditation that you are willing and ready to receive the tools appropriate to your present development. You are worthy to receive these tools. Allow Manik’s wave to wash away any remnant of unworthiness, that you may fully receive the gifts that are your birth right to use and enjoy.

The number for Manik is seven, the symbol of mystical power. As you accept your mystic power, you will be taken through the gateway into the mysteries of your essence. Seven also represents the Mayan mystic column, as well as the last note of an octave of growth. Walk the seven steps of the pyramid. Open your lotus to the world.

Shadow Wisdom and Transformation

In the shadow of Manik are spiritual distractions and resistances. As you hit “growth edges”, you can experience issues and resistance to revealing your true beauty and power. On your path, you will always be offered access to tools and further initiations. Think back to a time when you were offered such a gift, to a time when you embarked on a new quest or possibility. Remember the feeling of spiritual grace that accompanied that gift. Watch for other such openings that will be offered. They may appear in unusual circumstances. You may even find them in times of emotional crisis and amidst unusual access to hidden potentials. Becoming aware of these initiatory portals opens the door to guides and allies. It can also break the spell of distractions and reactive behaviors.

Another shadow of Manik is difficulty in completing things. Completion is especially difficult if you feel inadequate or displeased with the possible outcome of your efforts. If you take on too much, you may become too pressured and scattered to finish. You may also relish the creative process but lose motivation because of hidden issues or what appears as the hard work required to finish. Completion becomes easier if you allow yourself to be excited and satisfied by the steps along the way.

Another shadow of Manik is not having the desire and discipline needed to master a tool (such as meditation, healing, or some aspect of the creative arts). It is important to remember that commitment, focused intent, and openness are all necessary to the acquisitions of any new skill. A related shadow of Manik is in believing that the tool has the power. However, tools are simply vehicles for your connection with the Divine. Do you think your ability to access information using such things as tarot cards and astrology charts come from the symbols or system? The tool simply provides a means for you to focus, to open to the truth being revealed through the metaphor. If you are over-identified and attached to your tools – books, crystals, symbols, systems and so on – you may believe the power is outside yourself. Open to the clarity of your mystical nature. You are the tool through which Spirit speaks. You are the open vessel in which the light can play.

Native Names: LAMAT [la mat’], QANIL Common Mayan Usage: rabbit Qualities: harmony, starseed, beneficial combinations, way show-er, octave, expanded love, clear perspective Symbol: star path, cascading fireworks Number: eight (harmonic resonance) Colour: twilight blue and gold Element: fire Direction: south

Shadow Wisdom: self-doubt; feeling disconnected from the expanded presence of your Essence Self; learning the lessons of disharmony Shadow Transformation: Draw on love to prune away the disharmony in your life. Cultivate harmony. Access your starseeded essence; stand in the harmony of your full presence. Harmonic Wisdom: wavelength; fundamental and beneficial combinations

Mudra: Same position as Manik – hands forming an “O” at the level of the ears, forearms perpendicular; then moving the arms up and out, releasing the “O” with a burst of the fingers

Meditation: “I am ignition, cosmic milkweed explosion of resonant sparks on the tapestry of God.” Affirmation: “I am my full presence now. I am the harmony of the stars!”

The Journeyer

You are a starseed! You contain a holographic “seed packet” of your evolution into the Mind of Light and the energy that directs you toward wholeness. This resonance offers an expanded view of the larger self and new ways of perceiving reality. Through self-acceptance, you are gifted with this journey. Lamat is ignition, like a cosmic milkweed explosion of resonant sparks. It is the launching pad from which you can hear the rumble of the rocket of your accelerated evolution.

The energy of Lamat may be experienced as a gentle rocking that becomes a floating and spiraling sensation, ending in a rush of feeling as you move into expanded reality. This sensation has been described as gently cascading fireworks, shimmering burst on the tapestry of Creation. Cascade into this uncharted perspective. Flow on the cosmic winds wherever Divinity directs, arching back to this reality with a new experience of self.

Lamat’s starseeded gift is the revelation of the harmony that unites all things. Instead of just aspiring to be harmonious, become harmony. Practice harmony not just as an abstraction, but as a living reality. This practice blends different energies, thoughts, people, and processes. Act on intuitive guidance as to what to combine and when. As you begin to follow your heart, you will know the feeling of being on the return path to the stars.

Lamat offers you the ability to hold a greatly expanded focus, a unity of awareness that encompasses aspects of the larger constellation of self. An example of this would be a simultaneous awareness of the desires of the existential self and the truth of the Essence Self. This star harmony encompasses the greatly enlarged perspective of your starseeded self, the part within you that holds the potential of your greatest destiny.

The number for Lamat is eight, the number of harmonic resonance, the infinity symbol. Lamat is the harmonic overtone that can show you the return path to the stars. Through attunement to Lamat, the whole universe becomes your keyboard and orchestra. You are the player and the played, the dancer and the danced.
The harmonic wisdom that Lamat embodies is twofold. The first is wavelength fundamental, or the root tone in a harmonic series. Unlike the preceding tones, which were separate and distinct, Lamat begins a more complex harmonic series as it completes the preceding octave. On a spiritual level, Lamat begins the development of higher being. The fundamental tones that occur in this series are of a more expanded frequency that those of the preceding seven tones. In this new octave, there is an alignment in the harmonies of Earth and the harmonies of the stars that are now being sounded on Earth. Lamat is the first in a series of star harmonies that evoke accelerated growth of the starseed potential within you.

The second aspect of Lamat’s harmonic wisdom is the use of beneficial combinations. In order to create harmony with several different notes, it is helpful to understand which combinations of notes will work well together. All of the prior seven archetypes have provided lessons and tools that make up the component parts of the chord. Beneficial combinations are created not by the mind but from the heart and divine guidance. To receive these beneficial combinations, access the innocence and wisdom of your divine nature.

Shadow Wisdom and Transformation

One shadow of Lamat is believing in an exclusive path or that there is only one true or right system to bring you to enlightenment. However, your personal path is unique. Listen and learn from all teachers, but know that it is up to you to integrate their wisdom into your own truth. The wise teachings encourage you to be open, to follow your own heart’s path.

Another shadow of Lamat is that your life’s lessons place you in the midst of disharmonious situations. This may be experienced as living and working with people with whom you feel conflict or friction. Another aspect of this shadow is the judgment that sometimes follows from holding harmony as an ideal. All the ways you walk your path can be steps in the practice of harmony. Enact harmony through your relationships, emotions, environment, and expanded viewpoints.

The transformation offered in the shadow of Lamat is found by becoming aware of the existing harmony or disharmony in your life. Be willing to appreciate or prune where necessary. Call on wisdom and love to facilitate this pruning process. Open more fully to harmony in all aspects of your life. This harmony of self and one’s life becomes the foundation of freedom.

You may also judge yourself because you can’t seem to remember all that you are. Perhaps you are trying to figure out your purpose, awaken to your destiny, or understand why you came here. Simplify. Look at your present gifts and talents. Free your thoughts and your self-critical nature. You are, in this moment, the sum total of all that you are, have been, and the potential of your complete becoming. Simply be yourself, for only this will open you to the magic of your untapped potential.

Native Names: MULUC [moo’look], TOOJ Common Mayan Usage: raindrop, water Qualities: signals, signs, awakened attention, awareness, understanding, self-remembrance, divine guidance, Godseed, cosmic communication, beacon Symbols: lotus, beacon of consciousness, puma Number: nine (grand cycles) Colour: sunset peach Element: earth Direction: east

Shadow Wisdom: self-forgetting, negative self-talk, self-deprecation; lacking awareness of signs offered by cosmic communication; hiding the fullness of your light Shadow Transformation: Take off the veil of forgetfulness. Become the beacon of awakened awareness. As you open to self-remembrance, you will freely receive divine guidance. Be with others who support your fullest expression. Harmonic Wisdom: modulation

Mudra: right hand on forehead, forming an “O” on the third eye; left arm at a right angle, fingers together with palm facing forward

Meditation: “Lotus of remembrance, quicken the sacred seed.” Affirmation: “As a galactic beacon and receiver, I have direct access to the Divine.”

The Journeyer

Muluc is the cosmic seed of awakened awareness. Consume it like a fruit, and let it blossom within you. You are on the quest of self-remembrance, of Godseed. If you work with the energy of Muluc with clear awareness and attention, an awakened state of remembrance will naturally blossom within you. Remembrance means having direct access to your expanded presence through an intrinsic perception of unity. Remembrance is your recognition of the larger pattern and your connection to it, often facilitated through dreams, art, music, colours and creative pursuits. With focused attention, meditate on Muluc and you will receive help with self-remembrance.

Muluc is also a beacon or transmitting station. As you open to self-remembrance, you become a beacon and receiver for cosmic consciousness. This communication creates the gradual opening of the third eye, the eye within the monolith of self. As this eye opens and your communication becomes more refined, you will notice more signs, signals and understanding coming to you. These are all for your growth and evolution – a feedback system from which you can gain insight about your journey.

The number for Muluc is nine, which symbolizes the recurrence of great cycles. An example of such recurrence is the periodic return of master teachers to help awaken human beings on Earth. Nine is the number of Quetzalcoatl, Buddha, and Christ. Muluc is a symbol for great teachers who have come to translate universal wisdom to humanity, to embody the awakened state of consciousness that is accessible to all. Such teachers serve as a connection to the Divine and hold the promise of full self-mastery.

The harmonic wisdom embodied in Muluc is modulation, the harmonious passage from one key to another. This is experienced as movement and change through the natural laws of growth. Muluc represents a passage into a new key or mode. To shift keys or tonality in your life, move with and trust your own process. Even the dissonance created by resistance to change shows you where you have work to do.
Eventually, living in a new key or tonality creates a harmonious shift that naturally moves you to another resonance. Through experiencing this higher resonance, a communication is set up with the next octave of archetypal energy. In a literal way, then, Muluc is like a walkie-talkie, a communication device for the higher resonances. When this communication becomes fully realized, it is possible to communicate in the resonance of Cib. Cib is exactly one octave, or eight archetypes up from Muluc, representing communication with cosmic consciousness.

The musical descriptors of Muluc are chiaro, meaning “clear and pure,” and rubato, meaning “dwelling upon.” As each lesson is embraced, the next level of resonance can be more purely sounded. Being a clear channel for the light assists you in sounding the more expanded resonances. As to rubato, it is usually necessary to dwell on any spiritual practice before reliable results are achieved. Muluc represents the willingness to dedicate whatever time it takes to practice certain spiritual disciplines until they become a part of you.

Shadow Wisdom and Transformation

One shadow of Muluc is the tendency to float in the river of forgetfulness, feeling separate from clear awareness and guidance. Due to the influence of the collective trance, you may have unthinkingly accepted the beliefs and values of your culture. Because of the illusion of separation from the Divine, this trance may have deepened your experience of forgetting.

Another shadow aspect of Muluc is the tendency to direct your life primarily on the desires and needs of your ego instead of opening to the guidance of your Essence Self. Choices at your “growth edge” may feel unsure, for they transform your beliefs on your journey toward wholeness. Your intuitive guidance and internal proddings will trigger remembrance of what seems to have been forgotten. Pay attention to any sensory signs, any guidance that gives you strong feelings. In the larger pattern of cosmic communication that is available in each moment, these signs are painted everywhere. Be the translator-beacon. Let Muluc awaken the interpreter within you who decodes such signs. Let Muluc assist you in clearly understanding your perceptions.

Remembrance is a natural process. Use it naturally, without becoming obsessed with it. Being overly concerned with remembrance can actually hamper your process. Also be aware of any tendency to look to others for information about your remembrance. As fellow journeyers, we catalyze each other; however, you are the one who truly knows. Don’t get lost or confused by looking outside yourself.

Another shadow of Muluc is self-deprecation. In this shadow you may feel like hiding your light so that it limits you from being seen as the beacon you truly are. This tendency can stem from your shy or wounded inner child, whose sensitivity may have been suppressed through life experiences. This may create a desire to withdraw or feelings of aloneness and insecurity. On the other side of this shadow, you may be over-identified with being the beacon for others. Such issues show you what is between you and the clear expression of all that you are.

Self-criticism may be supported by internal self-talk, which brings to awareness the negative self-judgments that have been separated unconsciously into shadow. You have picked up your internal critic from the judgments of a critical world. Muluc invites you to heal the inner critic. Take the blinders off. Make a conscious effort to reframe self-talk that is self-diminishing. Be aware of your response to the judgmental and critical remarks of others. Allow relationships with others to support your fullest expression. As you stand in your own light, you will naturally fulfill that which you came here to do.

Native Names: OC [oak’], TZI Common Mayan Usage: dog, foot Qualities: breakthrough, new beginnings, relationships, companions of destiny, emotional-body issues, recasting the past, spiritual strength, guardians and guides Symbol: wolf, dog, foot Number: ten (manifestation) Colour: teal Element: air Direction: north

Shadow Wisdom: issues of the emotional body: possessiveness, jealousy; getting caught up in the drama of life; feeling unsupported on your path, seemingly disconnected from your companions of destiny Shadow Transformation: Access the objective “witness” who sees the emotional drama dispassionately and frees your experience. Bring your emotions out of drama into a place of choice, receiving their teaching and healing the root cause. Open to the connection and support of your companions of destiny. Harmonic Wisdom: affinity

Mudra: left hand over the heart; right arm at right angle with palm forward and fingers together

Meditation: “I am the faithful arrow that flies into destiny’s dawning.” Affirmation: “I open to new beginnings. I receive guardians and guides.”

The Journeyer

One of the gifts of Oc is the calling in and recognition of other companions of destiny. Other beings with the same longing are waiting to meet and acknowledge you – beings who can see you as you authentically are. When you have truly been seen, you feel empowered, and remembrance of a shared sacred trust is ignited. This is a natural process, divinely designed for recognition through vibrational affinity, freed from personal expectations.

Oc can be seen as an access point for developing relationships with guides, totems, allies and guardians. There are many ways to work with these spiritual guides, including guided visualizations, shamanic journeys, and meditation. A useful construct is viewing them as aspects of yourself, part of your life stream that is asking to be integrated. Remember, there is no “’other”. In this grand adventure, you are being asked to embody all that you are.

Profound insights are garnered through shared purpose and relationship with others who are willing to be in their truth and integrity about the light and shadow aspects they perceive in themselves.

Similarly, intimate relationships can be viewed as unique opportunities to bring forward in each other deep emotional patterns to be transformed. In this case, those you have drawn to you hold the ability to assist you in your own integration as well. There are no mistakes. Be willing to look deeply into the truth held within any relationship. The expression of intimacy is a gift of love; the lack of it may be a symptom asking for honest communication and healing. It may also be guiding you to re-evaluate your relationship and the purpose it is serving.

Oc signals a breakthrough in your life: new beginnings, new perceptions, new allies and friends. As you express more authentically who you are, you draw your true family closer to you. With your guides and companions, you have the ability to manifest your inspired visions and dreams. Recognize the eyes and hearts that spark the remembrance of a sacred trust.

The harmonic wisdom of Oc is affinity, the attraction of like vibration or substances for one another. Spiritual affinity is not limited to family kinship – it is part of the natural affinity between companions of destiny. Such companions of are drawn together by the same aligned force that draws iron filings to a magnet. Companions of destiny are drawn together to do work that is naturally harmonious.
On the surface at times, it may seem that you have little in common with these companions, yet the attraction remains. This is because Essence Selves are often committed to work together long before they meet in the physical world. This is a natural process of affinity, rather than a process motivated from personal desire. Follow this guidance into your unfoldment within the larger pattern.

Shadow Wisdom and Transformation

Do you feel caught up in the emotional drama of life? Oc asks you to take an honest look at repetitive or obsessive roles. The charged emotions in these roles are often associated with anger, fear, or jealousy. Oc offers you a different experience of yourself – that of the objective “witness” who can choose, rather than being drawn into charged emotional reactions. You can feel the liberation of observing your life from varied positions. At the same time, befriend the emotional, reactive part of yourself by examining its underlying issues and their emotional source.

All emotions hold the positive intent of assisting you in seeing the truth, receiving the teaching, and healing the root cause. Strong “negative” emotions often come from hidden wounds and unresolved life experiences. Deep emotions may arise from a sense of separation and a desire for unity that may be misunderstood by the emotional body. Are you easily “unhinged” by feelings of possessiveness or jealousy? If so, learn how to take the position of “the other”. Step inside the other’s skin and see how it looks from his or her perspective. Then feel the release that comes from stepping out of your position and understanding from another’s perspective.

Remember, you are always at choice. If you hold memories or wounds relating to unfinished emotional issues, you are being asked to interact with individuals, situations, or memories that still hold their charge. These issues are requesting healing and release. There is no blame, and there are no victims. Now is the time to clear these issues, to make way for new and liberating perceptions.

As you express authentically who you truly are, your companions of destiny acknowledge your true essence, building the trust and connection that reveals your destiny.

Native Names: CHUEN [chu’wen], BAATZ Common Mayan Usage: monkey Qualities: innocence, spontaneity, inner child, humor, artistry, monkey, trickster, disruption, transparency Symbol: dolphin, monkey, throat chakra Number: eleven (dissonant structures) Colour: aqua blue Element: water Direction: west

Shadow Wisdom: being too serious; issues of speaking your truth; misuse of humor; insensitivity, sarcasm Shadow Transformation: Lighten up! Speak your truth directly. Be vulnerable, sensitive, and openhearted. Accept life’s “disruptions” with good humor. Re-access your sensitivity by healing your inner child. Harmonic Wisdom: humor

Mudra: Smile innocently with hands on heart; then, with spontaneity, place thumbs in ears while wiggling and waving the fingers

Meditation: “I am the crystallization of sunlight in laughter.” Affirmation: “I am an innocent, open-hearted, transparent, divine child.”

The Journeyer

Chuen represents the Divine Child, the child that is ever in a state of open-hearted wisdom, innocence, trust, simplicity and joyful wonder. What would it feel like to actually be a magical child in this culture and time? The secret that very few know – because they may feel more comfortable trying to protect themselves – is that the divine child offers the strongest of all protections, the invulnerability of openhearted Love. Through innocence, a kind of immunity is created that allows the divine child to be transparent so that the apparent “slings and arrows” of the world can pass right through without being personalized into wounds, reactions or hurt feelings. This is the path of innocence regained. Transparency is the path of the new consciousness.

Look deeply into the eyes of a happy two year old. There you will see the innocent trust, openheartedness, and spontaneous joy that typifies the divine child. Imagine yourself as an enlightened two-year old, in a state of ecstatic communion and delight. In childhood, you didn’t have to remember to be playful – you could easily and fluidly express your emotions. You didn’t have to understand whys and wherefores – you knew with your heart. This if your natural state of being, the state of ecstasy, the path of revealed innocence.

In Western culture, many people have a distorted understanding about what it is to be a human being. We are often taught that successful adults are responsible, serious, rigid, controlled and goal oriented. In your journey with society, your developmental stages may have been incomplete. The natural sensitivity, fluidity, and freedom of the child may have been left behind in partial passage. Perhaps your inner child was wounded or treated insensitively, and you carried this unresolved process into adulthood. Chuen encourages you to bring forth this incomplete or wounded part for integration and healing.

This process implies a bounteous connection between Essence Self and Spirit, freed from judgment, denial and separation. It encourages an unconstrained experience of feelings, living your dreams and visions, where everything is sacred and so, by nature, humorous and joyful. Live your dreams! The moment is now. In this co-creative process, your life literally becomes a work of art and the dawning of the new myth.

In this New Myth, your spontaneous, divine child will usher in and anchor the new frequency. How can you heal your inner child? Explore what truly gives you joy. Find types of work that support your sensitivity and create deep satisfaction. Be simple: love, play, dance, draw, colour, sing. These activities are for all divine children – they serve the expression of the magical child in everyone. Consciously make time for the joyful freedom and magic of play!

The number for Chuen is eleven, the vibration wherein novelty and spontaneity break down resistant forms. When unity merges with Essence Self, a mystical foundation is created that disintegrates old patterns. This is actually integration in disguise. As your walls tumble down, they crack into a smile, and the illumination of self shines through.

Shadow Wisdom and Transformation

There are many facets to Chuen’s shadow. The most common of these is not seeing the humor in life’s experiences. If you take life too seriously, humor may offer the relief of an unexpected point of view. Follow your divine child, and you will be shown how to “play” your way through any apparently difficult situation. Humor is a great healer and teacher, and a wonderful way to lighten up about enlightenment.

Another prominent shadow of Chuen is avoiding speaking your truth. Do you use humor to express things that you are afraid to say to someone honestly and directly? Do you use humor to hide your vulnerability? Perhaps you use sarcasm because you feel wounded, insecure or unable to express your deep feelings. Such use of humor is a way to bring out hidden anger or aggression. If you find yourself caught in inappropriate play, consciously step out of it and bring in the missing awareness.

Trust your magical child to be vulnerable. Express your feelings – especially your awkwardness – in a direct way. Let go of using pretense or humor as means of masking your true feelings. Like the divine child you are, allow all emotions to be OK, and freely express them without judgment.

The issue of sensitivity also lies in the shadows of Chuen. Perhaps your inner child was unthinkingly wounded or suppressed by social expectation. Perhaps your gift of sensitivity was not supported by parental figures or the culture at large. In order to protect yourself from this criticism, you may have withdrawn, suppressed your self-expression and creativity, or become absorbed in fantasy worlds. Honestly examine any dysfunctional, hidden reactions or set patterns you may have that resulted from such wounding. Transform this shadow by becoming aware of your emotional reactions and perceptions of insensitivity. Then express the feelings around it before you get too deeply enmeshed in the cycle of emotional reaction.

Native Names: EB [eb], EE Common Mayan Usage: broom, grass Qualities: abundance, harvest, chalice, emptiness, open vessel, quickening Symbol: cornucopia, chalice, road, wild cat Number: twelve (complex stability) Colour: bronze wheat Element: fire Direction: south

Shadow Wisdom: issues of fulfillment, abundance, and insufficiency; issues of the mind, overvaluing or devaluing the intellect Shadow Transformation: Become self-nurturing by finding what brings you joy and fulfillment. Be willing to “not know”, to be empty so that you can be filled by expanded consciousness. Befriend your mind. Use your body as a receptor for higher frequencies. Harmonic Wisdom: resonance

Mudra: arms outstretched above head; then hands coming together to form a “V” on top of the head, open to the heavens

Meditation: “I am the cosmic cornucopia, ever singing through you the gifts of the spiraling galaxies.” Affirmation: “I am an open chalice. I am the joyful expression of the abundance of the universe.”

The Journeyer

Eb is the grail, the golden fleece, the philosopher’s stone, the alchemical transmutation that turns baser materials into gold. It is the cornucopia, the paradox of emptiness and harvest, the still place that lies open and fallow, receiving the gifts.

Eb offers you the gift of beginner’s mind in the fullness of union. Be receptive. Eb is preparing your circuits for transformation. Become empty, that your thirst may be quenched by the bounteous gifts poured from the chalice of the spiraling galaxies. Open and receive all that Eb offers in the chalice of your own body.

Eb asks you to strengthen and clear your physical vessel in order to prepare for the expanded energies of higher mind. Your chalice of self is being purified through vibrational adjustments in the brain/body system. With this quickening, adjustments are made and your circuits of consciousness are naturally transformed. Often this process is accompanied by the sensation of being altered or “rewired”. Higher centers of the brain and the light-sensitive pineal and pituitary glands are being activated to contain more light. This penetration brings you to a critical threshold, creating enormous change at the cellular level. It also activates soul memories and expands your concepts of reality.

With this expanded consciousness, your brain/body system is being cleared and fine-tuned so that you can create a sluiceway for the activation and acceleration of cosmic consciousness. This penetration of frequencies and its accompanying quickening is like upgrading the “hard drive” of your bio-computer and activating the “hidden chip,” the unused parts of your brain.

This is the foundation and awakening of your light body, a body crafted from the expansion of interstellar light within every cell. This body exists in and out of time and space and is able to experience and communicate freely with other dimensions and times. This is the resonant body within those whom José Argüelles calls the Servant-Warriors: “those humans who fully realize the dream light body within the physical body and understand the circuitry of the human organism – who use the light body to navigate the electromagnetic waters which we call the universe.”

The development of the light body involves strong interaction between Spirit and self as you prepare for entrance into the expanded chalice of Essence Self. In preparing this vessel, you enter into the rites of passage inherent to cosmic consciousness, and such rites eventually burst any false containers of self that cannot encompass the expanding chalice.

In meditation, expand to include all that you are. Then bring that feeling of expansion back into your physical self. In this process, you create a complex stability, opening a chalice of self that is fully rooted in human form. With this expansion, you are freed to explore within a new center that, paradoxically, seems to have to center. Eb reveals the secret of being essence within form, everywhere and nowhere, “nothing” but present in all things.

The metaphor of the ever-expanding chalice is a powerful spiritual tool. This chalice represents the eternal container of light, ever filled with spirit’s fire and nourishment. It is the metaphor that represents the form in which your full potential can manifest. Each stage in your journey feels like the final one, but each stage then opens to an expanded form, releasing you into the next stage of consciousness.

All the gifts of the macrocosm pour out of the universal cornucopia. With an open heart, empty yourself to be filled with the fruits of your true desire. Through the temple of your body, lift the chalice of your expanded self and declare that it is filled with truth and clarity. Feel the ecstatic union with your full potential as a human being.

Meditate on the cornucopia with you at its center. Lift the chalice of your self-generated energy vortex to greet the vortex that will descend from above. As an open vessel, prepare a place to receive Eb’s gifts. When you flow in unconditional love, all the fruits of the universe rush toward you for benediction.

Bathe in love’s essence as a child splashing in a pool on a hot day. Connect with others in joyous union. Use the broom of Eb to sweep your day clear of past experiences and the issues and obstacles of small mind. In the spirit of Eb function on all frequencies and power bands. Your cup is filled with the nectar of sacramental union. Be fulfilled by the great harvest of love!

The harmonic wisdom of Eb is resonance, the quality of sounding again. When you strike a tuning fork, another tuning fork next to it will begin to resonate in response because of its similar vibrational makeup and structural attunement. When you are being the vibration of all that you are, a natural resonance is set up for your chalice to be filled and your world to become fully resonant.

Be attuned to higher vibrational frequencies through such practices as meditation, yoga, prayer, changing, song, dance and sacred movement.

All physical matter produces vibrations that are not detectable by the human ear. The human brain creates waves or resonant frequencies in the alpha range that vibrate with those of the planet (at about 7.8 hertz per second). The fundamental harmonic frequency of planet Earth is similar to the brain-wave harmonic of a meditative person. The main reason meditators experience feelings of well-being is because they are tuned into a power source greater than themselves!

The musical descriptor that typifies Eb is ripieno, which means “filling up” or “filling in the harmony.” As you become empty and still, Eb offers a receptive environment to resonate with you. Being empty is as simple as being present in the moment. In emptiness you become open to being filled with harmony and light.

Shadow Wisdom and Transformation

The shadow of Eb holds issues of lack, which can manifest as insufficiency or emotional neediness. In your natural state of being the receptive chalice, you may experience separation, being fearful of material, physical, or spiritual lack. Perhaps you are holding onto subconscious patterns about lack – how there is “never enough” love, support, attention, time or money. In this shadow, you may see your chalice as being half empty instead of half full.

Examine and change these beliefs and programs! In your process of fulfillment, your beliefs are all that can limit you. There are many ways to work with these shadows of insufficiency. Subliminal tapes and affirmations are one means. Transpersonal approaches such as process-oriented psychology, gestalt, shamanism, or Jungian dreamwork can also help. Perhaps you project these feelings, believing that someone else is responsible for your lack. If so, remember that no one else can fill your cup. Only you and Spirit can do that. Look at how you can be more self-nurturing. Take inventory to discover what brings you joy and fulfillment; whatever that is will also bring you abundance. Working with Eb can change your subconscious attitudes and bring profound insights.

Another shadow of Eb is over- or undervaluing your intellect. In a society that has a tendency to overvalue the rational mind, you may have inadvertently limited your ability to receive the intuitive gifts of heart-knowing and higher mind. Or perhaps you don’t fully appreciate the function of your mind, having a tendency to feel inadequate about your intellectual abilities. Eb asks you to befriend the mind – to embrace its magnificence and its ability to help you become a fully realized human being.

In another shadow of Eb, you may not fully understand what it means to be human. Perhaps you judge yourself as not having realized your full potential. In the illusion of human limitation, you may be surprised to discover what the realized human is designed to do. Being in human form at this time is a unique and precious gift. In this age, you have chosen to participate in a great miracle, and you can utilize your human form to experience fully this unique opportunity! Eb is preparing your circuits for complete transformation, readying them to receive the high-frequency pulses of the full embodiment of essence from Spirit.

Native Names: BEN [ben], AAJ Common Mayan Usage: cane Qualities: fluid reference points, time/space traveler, skywalker, angelic messenger, pillars of heaven, courage, new directions, mysterious journey, compassion Symbol: quartz crystal flight, heart chakra, reed, armadillo Number: thirteen (universal movement) Colour: sunset pink Element: earth Direction: east

Shadow Wisdom: desire for isolation, withdrawal, or retreat; fear of the unknown; limited reference points Shadow Transformation: Explore your growth edges by facing challenges. Draw the light of courage and compassion into yourself and radiate it to others. Look at life as a sacred journey. Harmonic Wisdom: balance

Mudra: both arms out to the sides at 45º angles; then bring hands up over head a few inches apart forming pillars; then moving up and down from head to heart, as if creating a column of energy through you

Meditation: “I am a struck bell. Once struck, there is no return. May the light of love that I Am spill into the lives of all I touch and be harvested infinitely.” Affirmation: “I am a pillar of the invisible temple that brings heaven to Earth.”

The Journeyer

Ben is the skywalker, the time/space traveler who can jump dimensions to assist you in realizing heaven on Earth. RS is unlimited in form but often chooses the form of the angelic messenger.

A person who embodies cosmic wisdom may be known as a sky-walker, sage or bodhisattva. When others see such light in human form, they feel the vibration of heaven. This vibration may be embodied by you or experienced with a guru, master, an energy such as Ben, or in a “chance” encounter with an extraordinary person.

An encounter with the energy of Ben can spark a deep yearning within you for reunion with the Source. Yet from this place of love and compassion, you also have a desire (embodied in physical form) to serve the light. This is the place in you that has the courage to fully express unconditional love, the depths of your being. Ben asks you to live the new myth by bringing this heaven to Earth in your daily life. As this reality is lived, it touches and awakens the same truth in others: “Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done, on Earth as it is in heaven.”

Ben represents balance in your life – not static balance, but a dynamic equilibrium that includes both your present expression and your starseeded self. In Ben’s star-glyph you see that the pillars of heaven don’t appear to touch the Earth. You are the element that appears to be missing in the star-glyph. You are the one whose expression of the light assists in drawing the pillars of heaven to Earth.

Joining these pillars in yourself can be viewed as reuniting your male and female aspects. Together, in balance, we create the pillars of the etheric temples of heaven on Earth.

The natural state of every system moves toward balance that is fluid and free, as in dance. That balance is experienced differently by each person, but it often brings a sense of steadiness or centeredness even in the midst of movement and change. When you are dancing, you can use your very state of imbalance to create the fluidity of the dance.

While the line across the Earth (in the star-glyph for Ben) may appear to be a dimensional boundary, it is actually a semipermeable membrane representing the illusion of separation from heaven. It is the altar on which the illusion of duality is resolved and integrated. This membrane allows the light of higher mind to touch those beings who are reaching for it.

Step through the membrane in your own way. You are seeded with the ability to do so. Ask in meditation to be shown to shift your points of reference. Align yourself with the one mind and with the galactic vortices in time and space. This creates a fluid new center of gravity that allows you to access naturally the dimensions between the worlds. Ben is the bridge between realities.

The number for Ben is thirteen, the vibration of universal movement inherent in the evolution of the light. According to José Argüelles, “Thirteen is the solar number, the prime light information wave. It represents the means for inter-dimensional shift.” With Ben, you become the skywalker who moves though the dimensions.

Shadow Wisdom and Transformation

In the shadow of Ben is the tendency to hold onto the limited reference points of your beliefs, patterns, and identities. Your reality is maintained by these beliefs, which may be viewed as set reference points. When your reference points change, so does your reality. As you explore unfamiliar territory, your points of reference become open and fluid. This can be perceived either as frightening or exciting. Experiencing fluid reference points can feel like floating weightless in space. However, you also feel delight as you discover the depth of your changed perspective, knowing that you have been touched by the Divine.

In the shadow of Ben, you may also feel anxious, uncomfortable, or fearful of moving into the unknown. You may have issues of looking at the shadow of self. The word courage in French means being “at heart.” Find the courage to move through what seems difficult or uncomfortable. Take heart, skywalker! Ben offers a loving hand to lead you into the unknown. Being anchored in a secure sense of self and Source creates a lifeline for the journey.

Another shadow of Ben may be the desire to withdraw from the world. Once you have been deeply touched by the light, you may yearn for the experience again. You may feel difficulty coping with the “abrasive edges” of daily life created by old perceptions. Do you feel like a hermit? Perhaps you find yourself spending much of your time in isolation, withdrawing into meditative, intellectual, artistic, or fantasy pursuits. If so, look deeply at your hidden needs, the root source underlying your issues or reactions.

Learn to create a balance between solitude and service. Discover and satisfy your true spiritual desires, and create joy in your everyday work and play. Help to bring the light of heaven into the world. If you feel discouraged, draw even more light into yourself. An angelic messenger offers you unconditional strength, love, and courage. If you feel isolated, walk into service, sharing the compassion of your light and love.

The transformation offered in this shadow has to do with balance. Take time in solitude for your own inner work and spiritual nurturance, and fulfill the commitment to outer work and service. Create a balance between being in the world and being a skywalker.

Native Names: IX [ee’sh], BALAM Common Mayan Usage: jaguar, heart Qualities: integrity, heart-knowing, alignment with divine will, magician, shaman, jaguar, night seer, priest, torch bearer, magic Symbol: jaguar, wisdom wand, all-seeing eye, peacock Number: fourteen Colour: opalescence, iridescence Element: air Direction: north

Shadow Wisdom: issues of integrity, personal power, control; will out of alignment with divine will; need for approval and recognition; mind out of alignment with heart-knowing Shadow Transformation: Develop a clear connection with divine will and your Essence Self. Be transparent, innocently allowing magic to come through you rather than needing to create it. Open to heart-knowing and limitless possibilities. Harmonic Wisdom: melody

Mudra: left hand cupped beneath the heart while the right hand held perpendicular with strength reaches straight above the head and then down again to the other hand, meeting at the heart, aligning with divine will

Meditation: “Magician’s dream-coat made into a spirit sail, come fly with me on the galactic sea. Flow on solar currents; you are always free!” Affirmation: “Through heart-knowing, I am in natural alignment with divine will.”

The Journeyer

Ix is the Magician, whose powers are activated by wisdom that emanates from the heart. Such wisdom is not the intellectual understanding known in Western culture; it is the wisdom that comes from an alignment of mind and heart. An open, trusting heart is a refined tool of perception. Allowing yourself to “not know” opens the door of the mind to a deeper understanding of the universe. Ix asks you to fully utilize this aligned mind to participate in magic.

Ix invites you to step into self-empowerment. Empowerment comes from self-acceptance, integrity, and commitment to your evolution. Self-empowerment is not to be found outside oneself. Anything outside that brings you empowerment also has a divine foundation within you. If you feel a need for the approval of others, look to self-empowerment. When you feel effectively engaged, doing what gives you joy, your energy naturally expands to include more of who you are, and magic flows synchronistically into your life. Claim your alignment with the highest wisdom. Call forth divine action in all that you do!

Ix is a tool of the light, a conduit for the work of Spirit. A wise magician is spontaneous and transparent, allowing magic to come in rather than trying to control it or make it happen. A magician dances the dance of love through offering gifts of freedom to others. This is real magic. Freed from the need to use power to manipulate or control, a magician uses wisdom to manifest liberation and love.

The harmonic wisdom of Ix is melody, the progression of single tones within a composition. Ix symbolizes the sacred journey of your individual life. As a harmonic magician, you are a novel yet universal container for the expression of the Divine. While you play the melody of your journey’s spirit song, the Creator provides the harmony.

Melody is to music what story line is to story. Utilize the elements you have chosen for exploration in your life – your gifts, talents, abilities, motivations, circumstances, and the other characters in your play. Orchestrate the most interesting and growth-engendering story line from this combination of possibilities. Understand that you are the player and the played in the melody in your life.

Shadow Wisdom and Transformation

One shadow of Ix can be seen in issues regarding integrity. Integrity comes from an intention to be honest and true to yourself and others. Having integrity means that you can be trusted to do what you say you will do. It also means that your actions are congruent with your feelings. Integrity comes from a deep connection with self. It is characterized by a willingness to speak your truth, to address your shadow issues honestly, and to complete issues with yourself and others.

Ix also reveals issues of control and personal power. Look into your life to see how these issues might be manifesting. Do you sometimes feel a need to hold on, to control, to have things your way? Is your personal will combined with a desire for recognition, approval, status, or fame? This society may have rewarded you for functioning from a place of personal power. Many people in this shadow seem calculating and controlling, using their minds without alliance to their hearts. The need for control arises when you feel insecure or no longer connected to that which creates meaning and satisfaction in your life.

Similarly, people who view power as something outside themselves may see magic as the art of controlling people and nature. This perception creates its own lessons. In this shadow, you may unconsciously bend or distort data. Some magicians may even feel justified in using their personal power to bolster their self-assurance or to manipulate others. In the darkest part of this shadow, manipulation is enacted for the sheer pleasure of power.

Everyone may be willful from time to time while learning how to align personal will with divine will. In this process, let your heart show you the way. Face your insecurities and step into who you truly are – a wise and powerful human being, a magician of living. As you open to divine will, you will naturally resolve issues of personal will and power.

Ix also offers you an opportunity to create allies out of your fears and insecurities. Perhaps you are carrying issues from past lifetimes – deep wounds that create present issues of pain, anger or betrayal. These experiences may be clouding your vision. In order to acquire clear sight, begin to interact with and integrate these shadow teachers. The foundation for this integration is creating an ally of fear and a loving acceptance of all aspects of yourself. This heals the underlying structure that supports ego and insecurity. It also quiets the mind and aligns it with the heart, taking you into a space of clarity and self-empowerment.

Native Names: MEN [men], TZIKIN Common Mayan Usage: eagle, cobweb Qualities: hope, commitment, compassionate service, global consciousness, dreams and visions, planetary mind, belief in oneself Symbol: gathering of eagles, third eye, violet flame Number: fifteen Colour: lavender Element: water Direction: west

Shadow Wisdom: being obsessed with service to others; being the rescuer, “saving” others; not being able to say no; loss of hope and meaning; feelings of futility Shadow Transformation: Learn to temper service with nourishment and rest. Believe in yourself! Follow your own visions and dreams. Remember the purpose and commitment you have in the larger pattern. Harmonic Wisdom: flow

Mudra: hands cupped together at the heart, moving hands up over the eyes and then out to the sides, as if soaring like an eagle

Meditation: “Feel the power of my mighty wings draw you near. Follow me to the one heart at the crystalline core.” Affirmation: “With vision and hope, I dance and sing here for the one heart!”

The Journeyer

Men reminds you to step powerfully into your commitment as a planetary server! Your assignment includes whatever furthers your personal evolution and the evolution of global mind. You are an awakener, a transformer, an empowered global visionary. In your vision, you have compassion for others, and your decisions are made in the light of global consciousness. Ask yourself how you might experience compassion toward self, the Earth, and others. Be guided towards types of work, relationships, places to live, and projects that will benefit the Earth and her creatures. Allow your spirit to expand. Soar on your spreading wings and planetary perspective. Affirm: “Through you, Gaia, I am also transformed! I am awakening as the return of divine love and light. We are all one. Gaia, as you awaken, I heal myself. As I awaken, you are healed, and together our petals open ecstatically to the new Sun of Flowers.”

You are a member of the one global family, a planetary server and transformer. Men asks you to join in lifting the collective mind. It is up to each one of us to hold a positive vision and affirmation, for the means by which this miracle will occur is through changes in the one affecting the greater whole.

Imagine the profound impact your loving thoughts have on planetary mind. You do make a difference! As you connect individually with the larger crystal grid network, your power is multiplied exponentially. This galactic grid is also known as the Mayan cobweb.

The greatest gift you can offer to the planet is to simply be the love. Believe in yourself and your dreams and visions! Remember your special gifts, your path of service on Earth, your promise to serve the light. Everything you are connects to the greater whole. You are starseeded! You have the vision of the eagle. Believe in your dreams. You are the hope and the vision revealed.

To the Mayan, Men represents the eagle, the one who soars in conscious flight above the Earth, the one whose vision sees far beyond the mind of humanity. Men is the compassion of all hearts linked as one. Men is the essence of dawn – clear, fresh, and newly charged to fulfill your most cherished dreams. With unconditional love, Men pierces the depths of collective hopelessness and lifts mass consciousness. It urges the alliance of the faithful of the stars to serve through their remembrance of the light.

The harmonic wisdom of Men is flow, representing smooth, uninterrupted movement. Men is the flow of planetary consciousness. In this evolutionary development, whatever serves the larger pattern also serves you. In this, there is a model of flowing wholeness, of how to move gracefully with yourself and the greater whole. Men gives the cosmic dancer wings. It asks you to fly, riding the magical currents of your life with the vision and grace of a soaring eagle. The energy of Men gives you the ability to flow in every moment, without preconceived ideas, plans, or belief systems, creating the crest of the wave on which you surf to new heights of joy and delight!

Shadow Wisdom and Transformation

The energy of Men asks you to believe in yourself and believe in your dreams and visions, no matter how they may be perceived by others. You are the eagle’s vision.

One shadow of Men is a loss of hope, excitement, or joy in your life. This can stem from a reaction to mass consciousness or from the precipitous state of the world. In your deep desire to effect change, you may feel overwhelmed in a vast ocean of consciousness that seems hopelessly enmeshed in issues of separation, limitation, and judgment. If so, remember that elements of this enormous field are often attracted to your personal dream field for healing. These duality constructs are deeply rooted on the planet. Don’t be discouraged. The global mind is in the process of a profound transformation. As you heal these issues within yourself, you offer gifts of healing to the larger reality. Do not underestimate the power of your personal transformation and its effect on planetary mind: “Gaia, as you awaken, I heal myself. As I awaken, you are healed.”

This wondrous pool of planetary consciousness is full of archetypal mysteries, hopes, dreams, and fears. Some beings may feel that their personal world is “falling apart” as their lives expand into the larger dream. Sometimes this feeling manifests as hopelessness, which may even lead to a desire to leave the Earth. Remember, you are in human form for a divine reason! You have chosen this form in order to participate in the great miracle! Walk with ease in commitment to your destiny. Allow yourself to explore and play compassionately as a planetary server. You are the emissary of the great change.

In the shadow of Men, you may also be so obsessed by finding your “purpose” that you miss seeing how simple it can be. Your purpose can be as simple as expressing love and light – and that is enough! Take heart. There are great gifts being offered for your participation in healing the global mind.

Another shadow of Men is when your purpose as a planetary server becomes a messianic obsession, creating a “rescuer complex”. This may also be seen in self-sacrificing behavior, an inability to say no, or an attachment to rescuing others. In this shadow, your desire to serve needs to be tempered with self-nourishment and sustaining rest. If you neglect your personal needs and desires and do not allow time for joy and rest, you may feel depleted and lacking. Hold yourself in the same compassion as you hold the world. Strive to keep your personal needs in balance with planetary service. Fill your personal cup. Take loving care of yourself, and your cup will naturally overflow to empower your work with others.

Be hopeful. Believe in yourself! Believe in your vision! Just keep playing and dancing, and you will find your place in the larger pattern.

Native Names: CIB [k’eeb], AJMAQ Common Mayan Usage: owl Qualities: grace, trust, inner voice, galactic conduit, reception, mystic transmission, divine communication, cosmic consciousness, golden pillar, ferryman’s staff Symbols: staff, rod, owl, bee Number: sixteen Colour: indigo blue, gold Element: fire Direction: south

Shadow Wisdom: lacking trust in your inner knowing, your ability to feel and act on guidance from Spirit Shadow Transformation: Establish your divine connection. Become a direct conduit for Spirit. Trust in your mystical intelligence. Attune yourself to the clear signals from your inner guidance. Harmonic Wisdom: grace

Mudra: arms reach out in a large “V” above the head, as if to receive galactic communication; then fingertips come together to touch the third eye; and then lower to sides, palms outward forming a “V”

Meditation: “I am the transcendent splendor of the night blossomed-lotus atop your golden, luminous staff.” Affirmation: “I take up the staff of my power.”

The Journeyer

Cib, the galactic guide, is a mystic ferryman on the return path to the stars; allow Cib’s staff to ferry you to the spiraling vortex of cosmic consciousness. Cib is the grace of the descent of the dove. Embody the mystic gift of trust in direct guidance. Through trust, you journey to the place of “no time” and limitless light. There you will undergo the transformations to embody solar heart and mind.

Cib is a conduit for cosmic communication, offering access to the universal web of consciousness. This is the web of the Mayan mystic spider that weaves intergalactic threads, the conduit of interconnected consciousness. Cib is the spider in the web, the grid connection for divine communication. Receive these ripples of knowing from Cib’s web through the central axis in your spine, your staff. Accept this gift of knowing in grace, as you would receive the morning light by turning your face to the Sun. Grace is an unexpected touch, a blessing given in love, a natural gift from the universe. Use the power of love like an electrical current to serve the light. Open fully to feel and receive it!

In Cib’s star-glyph, notice the three sets of three pillars. There are many symbologies connected with this. For one, the three groups may represent stargates – access points between dimensions or “holes between worlds.” Stargates such as Sirius and Pleiades are two such interstellar doorways that serve as entry points for many starseeded beings from other galaxies. Cib acts as keeper of the wisdom of these stargates. In meditation with Cib, you can learn how to utilize these stargates.

In the Cabalistic tradition, these pillars represent the three different paths toward cosmic consciousness. The pillar on the left is the path of the mind, the intellectual flowering of knowledge unfolding. The pillar on the right is the path of the heart, celebration, the feeling senses, passion and nature. The central pillar is the “middle way,” the golden path that unifies heart and mind through divine devotion and service. This golden pillar ignites the flame in your heart and reveals cosmic knowledge.

This central pillar or path is called the chutz, or “arrow” that is designed to carry you directly toward reunion with cosmic consciousness. The bow is a rainbow, representing Spirit’s promise that your arrow will always be sustained through trust – even through seemingly dark times – in its movement toward home. This pillar symbolizes your embodiment, the choice to bring heaven to Earth as you dedicate your life to being an instrument of Spirit. Cib is a composite energy created by those who serve this understanding. This mystical intelligence has its own spiritual identity and autonomy. As an archetype, it is the cosmic power of the planetary servers themselves, united in fulfilling divine purpose.

Those on the path of the central pillar paradoxically “give all to attain no-thing.” This path is the eternal question for which there is no obvious answer: “What is the no-thing? How can I be, yet not be?” When this question is asked in an attitude of openness or prayer, the spiral symbol in the center of the glyph is activated. This spiral represents the eternal enigma of human existence, the cosmic question mark. It is the cry from the heart that says, “Guide my footsteps in the perfect pattern of my being, into the mysteries of deeper understanding and wisdom. I am the song seeking the root of truth.”

Trust in guidance is an essential attitude in accessing the position of the central pillar. Trust in Spirit to provide all you need, and trust that what is given will serve your highest evolution. Trust in the wisdom of the “Mind of Light curriculum.” Trust in your inner voice, your feelings, your moment-by-moment guidance. This is Spirit’s clear confirmation. Trust as an open vehicle for Spirit, your mystical intelligence, your divine guidance. Embody your ability to commune with cosmic intelligence.

A universal symbol associated with Cib is the ferryman’s staff. This staff is a tangible expression of your truth – the ideas, concepts and spiritual creations that come out of your mystical discovery process. To the Maya, the ferryman is personified as Quetzalcoatl or Kukulkan, and the staff is a connecting point between the Earth plane and the Divine. Whether you view your spine as the staff of Cib or as a metaphor for a staff that stands apart from you, a profound awareness can emerge from working with it.

Direct guidance, communication, and embodiment are the key concepts contained in the staff. It is a symbol of learning to stand in your full power and authority – learning to “tune in” to galactic intelligence so that transmissions are received effortlessly. This resonance is created through embodying light. The ferryman is offering you his staff. Plant it within yourself so that it becomes a blossoming tree of consciousness.

The number for Cib is sixteen, the number of unity with the cosmic foundation of resonant evolution. As you embody the ferryman’s staff, you become anchored in your connection to cosmic consciousness. Holding within you the foundational steps of the trinity, you carry the “Christed one” into the world. As a living mystic, you are the conduit of the spiraling galaxies that creates a union with cosmic consciousness. Sixteen may also be seen as the beginning of another octave – a higher octave characterized by organic balance and the new Earth under your feet. Cib’s colours are indigo and gold, combining the limitlessness of the night sky with the freedom of the daytime Sun. If you desire to access grace and trust, focus on these colours.

Shadow Wisdom and Transformation

A major shadow of Cib is a lack of trust in your inner voice. Oftentimes, in listening for the roar of a lion, you may not perceive the more subtle messages given by Spirit. Divine communication directs transformations on a cellular level, outside the realm of cognition. Self-doubt and fear are blocks to such trust. By creating electro-chemical charges and holographic residue in your system, they can block access to cosmic communication. Your true self is always in direct contact with cosmic consciousness. Trust in your ability to receive clear inner teaching.

The transformation offered in the shadow of Cib is found in releasing and healing these blockages. Start by simply claiming your birth right of guidance from Spirit – and thus your union with cosmic consciousness. If you sense that you have a block, or if you lose this connection, lift and clear yourself. Call on your divine connection and your self-authority in meditation or prayer. Claim your own healing. You will be guided toward self-forgiveness and integration. The ferryman offers you clear passage to direct guidance. Trust in your mystical intelligence and inner knowing.

Some people call this inner knowing a “spiritual steering mechanism,” and it can appear in many forms. The most common is a sense of confirmation, a strong sensation or rush, the “touch of Spirit.” Another is subtle body movements or specific sensations in which energy is directed through the autonomic nervous system. In this case, when the message is received, the body responds with an involuntary movement, a vibration, a feeling. Some people may have a feeling of warmth in their heart or solar plexus. Others may hear tones or voices or see lights, colours, patterns, or images. Still others may receive feedings of insight or energy, or “knowing” that are confirmed again and again. Any one of these means may become part of your own spiritual compass. Pay attention to these subtle messages. You know when something rings true and when it does not.

Attune yourself to the vibration of love, and your clear intent will attract the cosmic consciousness you seek.

Shadow Wisdom: focusing on past and future, not being in the present moment; over-interpreting signs, symbols, dreams, and visions; jumping to conclusions; non-identification with earthly existence Shadow Transformation: Be centered in the present moment. Observe without drawing conclusions. Allow the larger pattern to emerge. Remember your choice to come to Earth in this unique time of transformation. Harmonic Wisdom: tone

Mudra: fingers and thumbs of both hands touching to form a triangular shape, moving from the lower chakras to the crown above the head, then to the heart chakra (repeat three times)

Meditation: “Gift of the sacred unis mundi, eye of the centaur, sacred loop of the ouroboros, circle of fifths, be complete in me.” Affirmation: “I am aligned with my centre, Earth force aligned with cosmic force.”

The Journeyer

Caban is the access point to your natural alignment with Earth force. It is the unis mundi, the point of perfect centeredness in the eternal present from which all alignment and magic manifest. Your center, the Earth center, is the secret of gravity’s magnetizing force. Caban is the channel of harmonic synchronization that is aligned with the galactic heart. From the center point within self, you align with this galactic center and connect through your own crystalline structure to the larger crystal grid network. To keep this channel of synchronization open, connect to the elemental energies of earth, air, fire and water, and the seven directional guardians.

Cosmic consciousness is not just “out there”; it is also resonating within you. Be sacramentally rooted where you are. You are made of the Earth! Look through the “eyes” in your feet. Your body is the present focus of your consciousness – through it all gifts are received. Remember, too, that your environment is alive and reacts to your awareness of it; therefore, the way you perceive the Earth and your physical form affects the information you receive.

Caban is a symbol of the Earth keeper, the keeper of the garden, the shaman/healer who, through reverence for all life, heals and sanctifies the Earth. Earth keepers preserve the harmonic relationship with nature by connecting to the wisdom held in matter. In Latin, mater means “mother.” As you bring light into yourself, you bring light into matter. You and the Earth both contain the holographic seed of the new consciousness emerging.

Sit in simple relationship to the Earth, like a poet enraptured in a forest. Be rooted where you are now. Out of synergistic centeredness, you will receive your greatest desires and open to the full flowering of the mystic power of the universe. This synchronization can be seen as the alignment of your personal myth with the greater myth of our times. Myth is the framework or “story” in which the truth of the cosmos is revealed in symbolic form. Utilize it to catalyze your unfolding alignment.

Caban also represents the synergistic workings of destiny that bring people together for common spiritual purposes, as well as the synergy that becomes possible through shared intent. Synergy is the collective expression of individual harmony, the union of different parts in which the whole is exponentially greater than the sum of its parts. When two or more come together in synergy, the resonant vortices between the Earth, the galaxies, and divine archetypal energies are aligned, and all things become possible.

Shadow Wisdom and Transformation

In the shadow of Caban it may seem difficult to be in the present moment. Instead of being tuned into “channel central,” you may be tuned into the channel for shopping lists, relationship dramas, fantasies, regrets about the past, and worries about the future. Center yourself in the present moment! This is where you can most beneficially observe the synchronicities and revelations about your personal pattern and larger purpose. From here your mind can learn to be keenly observant, allowing the larger pattern to take shape as naturally as the small brushstrokes that eventually complete a beautiful painting.

Often in the shadow of Caban, you may feel “out of sync” with the world around you. If you feel physically, mentally, or emotionally “off,” remember that you may actually be in a process of realignment. Allow for synchronization with the new, expanding pattern. Affirm: “I am one with the galactic heartbeat that aligns the core of my being into the crystalline core of Earth and through all realities and dimensional fields.”

Another shadow of Caban is being disassociated from the Earth and your body. Are you over-identified with seeing yourself as a star being, an alien, or a walk-in? Everyone on this planet is both an Earth child and a celestial being! Remember that your issues create judgment of your earthly existence and your personal growth process. Remember that you chose to assist in the Earth’s transformation at this time, in order to utilize the unique benefits of this experience for your own spiritual unfoldment. Embrace this opportunity to explore and discover and to work through any denial or issues of your physical, earthly self. Strive to transform all crystallized thoughts, beliefs, and judgments into fluid consciousness. By accepting your physical form and your growth process in the world, you access a hub of centeredness out of which all the truth and magic of the universe unfold.

Take off your shoes. Touch the one Earth. Find a place to dance with the sacred hoop of life. Contribute your vision as an awakened member of the global rainbow family!

Sit in relationship with the energies of the Earth, as a shaman would sit in a forest. Take time to listen to the information being transmitted through your feet. Walk into your life. Find and do what gives you joy. From this place of centeredness, magical happenings spring and synchronicity abounds, helping you to access clues to the cosmic puzzle.

Remember, you hold the Earth within you. You are the global family, the deeper of the Earth’s garden.

Native Names: ETZNAB [ets’nab], TIJAAX Common Mayan Usage: knife, flint Qualities: timelessness, discrimination, clarity, hall of mirrors, spiritual warrior-ship, sword of truth, facing shadow, integration of paradox Symbols: mirror, sword, toucan Number: eighteen Colour: silver Element: air Direction: north

Shadow Wisdom: illusion: judgment, self-doubt, separation; being caught in a problematical hall of mirrors; thinking illusion has power over your ability to change your experience Shadow Transformation: Look at the mirrors provided by other people and life situations as gifts. See how you maintain the illusions in your life. Use discrimination. Face your shadow. Look in the mirror. Wield the sword of truth in your life to release and forgive. Harmonic Wisdom: dissonance

Mudra: alternating one arm at a time, reach out above the head; then cross arms diagonally in a downward sweep, as if the arms were swords cutting through illusion

Meditation: “I am the sword that is not a sword, which can cut away that which never really was; only a mirrored reflection of the truth beyond mirrors.” Affirmation: “I am the truth beyond mirrors. I now step through the mirror into the greater reality.”

The Journeyer

Etznab represents the hall of mirrors, where you can face your own reflection and see the truth about yourself. As a mirror, Etznab merely reflects what is, whether truth, beauty or illusion. Here you can face unfinished business, the dissonance of difficulties, or charged issues that would keep you from the full expression of your Divinity. Become aware of any illusions or distortions within yourself; your clarity of perception will transform them. Take a moment to see yourself as you actually are, shadow and all, freed from the maze of mental illusion.

Sometimes you may find yourself reacting rather than freely responding to a situation or person. If you have charged reactions such as frustration, anger, fear, judgment or jealousy, look at how you might be projecting these issues onto someone else. The world is the mirror for you to truly see. Any strong reaction to a person or event signals an issue to work on in yourself. Be willing to examine and utilize what you see in your mirrors, in order to transform dysfunctional belief systems, negative thought forms, and fixed patterns.

In the hall of mirrors there is no good or bad, no right or wrong – there is only the reflection of what is. As you learn to see yourself, you begin to see your emotional reactions as signs indicating where to focus your awareness for growth.

On this quest, come prepared to face Etznab’s sword of truth and purification. The wisdom of this sword penetrates, exposes, and ultimately heals your illusions. Discrimination tempered with love cleanly cuts away everything that does not serve your evolution. To the Maya, Etznab is the flint that hones your sword.

The greatest gift of the sword is the power of forgiveness. A profound freedom emerges from forgiveness, the releasing of the illusion of cause and effect. Use the great gifts offered in this blade of truth and light to forgive and release anything you may judge or see as imperfect.

To the Maya, Etznab is the knife that cuts you free from that which binds you. The sword of Etznab symbolizes truth, light, and the beneficial use of power – that is, power balanced with love and wisdom. As such, Etznab can be seen as a symbol of spiritual warrior-ship. In becoming a spiritual rainbow warrior, you choose to undergo apparent tests and trials – to temper your blade in order to bring forth great wisdom. You undertake initiation by the light, that you might fully fuse with your Essence Self.

Etznab’s are able to clearly reflect others back to themselves once their own mirror is clear.

Etznab is an octave above Chuen, the trickster/fool. Here, at last, the cosmic joke can finally be appreciated and understood. And the joke, of course, is that you are already an enlightened being! Meditate with the star-glyph Etznab. Encoded within its pattern is an aerial view of a three-dimensional Mayan pyramid, the “interlock” of matter, the crack between worlds. Through meditation, you can unlock the mystery in this pattern of Etznab. Its star-glyph reflects the apparent duality of male and female, light and dark, happy and sad, ignorant and wise. As part of the Mind of Light curriculum, you have chosen to experience all of these positions in order to learn more about your consciousness.

At any time, however, you can choose to sit fluidly poised between any two polarized positions, becoming a third point above the linear patterning of duality. In so doing, you create a triangle of light that expands duality into a more open system. With further expansion you can create a multidimensional “pyramid” of light within which you are poised in the crystal clarity of the eternal now. In this time of transformation, the pyramid of heaven is touching the pyramid of Earth, and the crack between the worlds is widening. On the platform of this expanding present moment, heaven and Earth are merging as one.

The colour for Etznab is reflective silver. Silver symbolizes the lunar intelligence of intuition and receptiveness, the mirrored illusions of duality and multiplicity. In the larger pattern, all things are reflections of the greater reality. Silver offers a glimpse of the Great Mystery, the reflection of things as they really are. To access the qualities and teachings of Etznab, utilize silver.

Shadow Wisdom and Transformation

Have you unconsciously created a reality in which you seem lost or confused? In this shadow, you may feel enmeshed in the illusions of the hall of mirrors. Remember that the only real power the hall of mirrors has is your belief that its grand illusions are real! On Earth, we presently live on a holographic playing field made of the elements of time and space. This field draws to itself the density and mass necessary to form a three-dimensional reality. All phenomena within it are images that appear for our learning and growth. Since each of us is a hologram of light within the larger hologram, getting lost in fear, judgment, and denial can certainly appear to be “real,” but it is really only an illusion. The essential mind is silent, still, empty – hence, incapable of getting lost.

The transformation offered in this shadow is found by being mindful. Meditate and pray for the reestablishment of your direct connection to Spirit. Become quiet and still. Imagine yourself floating timelessly in the center of the star-glyph Etznab, receiving divine wisdom. Cut away with clear discrimination. Forgive and release yourself and others. Enter into the timeless truth of the spiritual warrior.

Another shadow transformation of Etznab may be found in seeing yourself clearly in the mirrors of the world and other people. Using others as mirrors allows you to experience hidden truths about yourself. Ask for honest feedback from friends you trust. Risk hearing the truth about yourself. Openly observe the events in your life to see how they can be used to better understand who you actually are.

One of the most self-limiting illusions is the belief that one’s own view of reality is the only one. This often causes the mirror of the world to reflect back to you your “unseen” shadow, and when you see this shadow, it can produce a judgment or reaction. Such emotionally charged situations usually have two poles or positions. When you believe that only you are right, both poles remain charged and fixed. For a moment, experiment with letting go or changing your position. As you loosen your hold and step aside, the “other position” or person is freed to change as well.

Understand that judgment and acceptance are two sides of the same mirror – the transparent mirror of ascension.

Native Names: CAUAC [ka’wak], KAWOQ Common Mayan Usage: storm, fire, rain Qualities: purification, transformation, reunion, light body, activation for ascension, thunder being, lightning path, initiation by fire, ecstasy of freedom Symbols: thundercloud, lightning, white owl, turtle Number: nineteen Colour: royal purple Element: water Direction: west

Shadow Wisdom: denial; fear of the unknown; issues of addiction; strong feelings of despair or separation from Source; judging your physical transformational process Shadow Transformation: Step free from denying and judging your experience. Access your Essence Self to carry you through the intense feelings that accompany profound growth. Turn your transformation over to Spirit, surrendering all that perpetuates the illusion of separation. Harmonic Wisdom: freedom

Mudra: clasp hands at the heart, as if in prayer, interlocking fingers; then with tension raise clasped hands above the head, opening them explosively while making a sound of purification

Meditation: “Enter the wave of ecstasy beyond the finite dance of the swirling veils. Fragments of the Greater Self gather, moving homeward. Rise up unveiled. Horizons await.” Affirmation: “I am purifying and transforming myself, igniting my light body, healing all separation.”

The Journeyer

Cauac is the initiation by fire, the lightning path, the arrival of the thunder beings who bring the final transformation. To the Maya, Cauac represents the storm, the thundercloud full of purifying rain, and the lightning that shatters any false structuring of reality. Cauac is the purification of the “body temple” and the ignition of the light body. In these last years of a twenty-six-thousand-year Mayan grand cycle, Cauac comes to help you in the disintegration process that moves you from separation to ascension. This initiation by fire breaks any false containers of self that cannot withstand the flame of transmutation. Only your true identity will live through these fires, for you will be reborn in the heart of All That Is.

Cauac provides the water that purifies and quenches your spiritual thirst. In this state of consciousness, you stand willing to surrender everything. You give up what you seem to be in order to become fully what you are. You step into the fires of the unknown, and you are changed forever.

Allow Cauac’s storm to purify and cleanse you.

Cauac catalyzes and prepares your nervous system and circuitry for complete transformation. It is the electromagnetic storm of transmutation, the clearing and quickening of your physical, mental, emotional, and etheric bodies. As you become aligned with the descending energies, and evolve in consciousness, you body’s vibration is raised, becoming less “dense.” Your new alignment ignites the quickening process that transmutes the shadows of the past, including experiences, judgments, thought forms, and old patterns that have held you back.

As you move into this new vibration, you may feel off balance. In this transformational shift, you will feel unusual quickening on every level of your being. You will sense emotional and physical “imbalances” and restructuring. Your issues will be catalyzed and brought out for you to address. By being present with your old patterns you have a unique opportunity to access the energy of Cauac, which is experienced as an inner transformational “storm,” a natural part of the process of vibrational shift and quickening.

Whether you are experiencing these changes consciously or unconsciously, the vibrational change is adjusting your energy pattern to accommodate the flow of the language of light. These new frequencies feed you on every level of your being. As your transformation progresses, you quickly become aware of the unconscious material you still need to process. No longer can you escape the effects of your belief systems. Fears and negative images can all be felt very quickly. The transformation is experienced as if it were happening “from the inside out.” Things seem to “cook” inside you.

Remember that you have chosen to take part in this rebirth, both on a planetary and a personal level – the planetary dream, the miracle on Earth, is what brought you here! You are becoming the living model of the new reality. As an emissary of the great change, you are a transformer of the collective myth. Riding the crest of the wave, you are travelling both outward and inward on your journey home – for yourself and for all those who will follow after you.

A simple catalyst for this catapulting force is the integration of duality within. The personal integration of shadow is what will create the miracle! Personal shadow is simply that which is separated from the full light of consciousness. By integrating shadow, you are freed from delusions of right or wrong, good and evil. Shadow provides an opportunity for you to bring in all of your expanded essence.

Consciousness is a structural metaphor that is calling for transformation. As your consciousness becomes crystallized, narrow, and complex, it invites the process of dissipation to “unravel” and break it free. As you travel the spiral vortex of light, expanding into ever-widening realms of truth, your crystallized energy breaks down and transcends form. This process can be very intense, but if you embrace it, you can be transformed into a freed adventurer – a divine actor who can play any part without becoming attached to it.

The harmonic wisdom embodied in Cauac is freedom, which can be defined as the state of being unconstrained by fate, karma, necessity, or circumstances in one’s choices or actions. Freedom is an open reality wherein you know that you are at choice every moment. This state of being originates from an innate perception of reality. It is the understanding that you are an “actor,” free to play any part at any moment without being attached to it. You work with your life’s “scripts,” your attachments and perceptions, in order to free them. From this perspective comes the fullest freedom: learning to live in natural harmony and union with divine will.

In music, this concept is expressed by the term a piacere, which means “at the pleasure of the performer.” As a divine actor aligned with divine will, you are free at any moment to dance the dance of ecstasy.

The musical descriptor of this harmonic is senza, meaning “without measure.” This refers to a composition that has the feeling of freedom. Since all limitations and separation are illusory, freedom is without measure.

Shadow Wisdom and Transformation

In the shadow of Cauac are held issues of spiritual separation. Cauac bridges the time and space between physical and nonphysical realities. This space can be viewed as a wall or veil between you and the Creator. The intensity of your desire to go ‘home’ is often met with equal force from the collective belief in separation. At times, you may even experience a sense of despair and helplessness over the apparent gap between you and Spirit.

Take courage – you will move through the wall! During this process, you may encounter intense feelings related to the original trauma of separation from Source. But equally intense feelings will take you through the wall to sacred reunion on the other side. On this journey, you will meet and deal with the charge of that part of your power that has not been freed into love. And in your yearning for your spiritual home, you will be assisted by ascended beings and masters whose purpose is to aid in your return.

A prominent shadow of Cauac is the fear of loss, the fear that by jumping into the unknown, you will lose everything: companions, loved ones, attachments, possessions – perhaps even your body or mind. Cauac is the crucible of revolution. This transformation is so inclusive that you may be reluctant to take risks for fear of the depth of change. You may even have feelings of despair or giving up. Though it can appear frightening, this process is actually there to serve you – to magnify your feelings until you address them, using them as fuel to propel you through the transformational barrier itself.

Another shadow of Cauac falls on those who seek to escape or transcend earthly reality through addictions of all kinds – to substances, fears, self-doubts, material comforts, relationships, sexual obsessions, and work, among others. Addictions are like incomplete rites of passage, where compulsive behavior creates a feeling of being trapped rather than being free. They may offer the appearance of freedom, but only spiritual connection can offer true freedom. On the other hand, the desire from a new or altered state can become an indirect spiritual path leading to transcendence. Thus the escape is incomplete, yet it eventually brings one to the opportunity of a profound transformation.

Any illusions you may have about self are magnified intensely through the lens of Cauac. When you experience separation from Spirit’s love, questions of Essence Self and issues of archetypal self-worth arise. This separation springs from a basic denial of your oneness with Spirit. Denial can be seen as consciously or unconsciously holding something away from yourself, and it creates an energy loss and a feeling of disconnection from your potential.

However, that which feels like it has been lost returns when you forgive yourself. Accept your human process, freeing the power and potential that has been locked in your fear-based emotions. Accept your behaviors as part of your learning experience. Let go of the rigid belief systems and judgments that hold denial in place.

Acceptance is the allowance that creates freedom, and separation is the guide to union. You may tend to deny your feelings and your growth process, thinking that you are above them or have already worked through them. This denial amplifies and intensifies the feelings until they come into awareness. Know that the intensity of your process is also healing your cellular and genetic memory, as well as the collective issues of humanity and the planet. Simply accept the truth of your experience, no matter how intense or difficult it may seem. Embrace everything that happens to you, and you will regain all the vital energy that can be applied to the purposes of evolution.

The Journeyer

“I Am that I Am. … I Am that I Am. … I Am that I Am.” This mantra of Ahau is a meditation for accessing the I Am presence that contains great power and universal truth. Ahau is the mystery unveiled, the simplicity of unconditional love and limitless bliss. Known by many names, Ahau is the Solar Lord, the Mind of Light, the Center that is also your center. Ahau is your solar home, the Great Central Sun.

Ahau is a reminder that you are, at every moment, in the center of All That Is. In your journey of remembrance, you are crafting a light body to return to a home in the stars that you never really left. Return as a child of the sacred to the Great Central Sun! You are the crown of creation, infused with the blueprint of solar mind. You are a Godseed, the reflection of cosmic consciousness. You are love made visible!

Discover the simple secret encoded in Ahau’s star-glyph: you are unconditional love, the stone of indestructible liberation. Radiate that knowing in all your thoughts and actions. Love all of creation. Join the dance of light, the fundamental constant of nature, and shine forth the clarity of your true essence. There is great power in simply identifying with the light: “As above, so below.” You are in God, and God is in you.

As you express unconditional love, you become more than you previously perceived yourself to be. You become illumined, the full manifestation of your divinity. In the embrace of your humanity, accept yourself and others unconditionally. Magnify your full presence. Ahau will come in myriad forms to assist you. Be limitless. Accept and understand the nature of judgment, fear, light and dark within yourself and others. Love and accept yourself and others as you are, freed from previous boundaries. You are the dawning of the solar age.

As you move toward your core of light, you will find a clear-light awareness that is innately innocent. In this place, the mind is restored to its original state of receptivity. Clarity and freedom become expressions of being, and bliss becomes the body. At this core of light, a new reality is born. From the union of the divine masculine and feminine is birthed the solar androgyny of cosmic consciousness.

Now we find ourselves in a great awakening. We have the opportunity to retrace our steps, to return to union with Original Cause. We who have deepened the illusion of separation are now poised to retrieve what seemed to be lost forever. Through the gift of rebirth and ascension, we are reclaiming our original state of union with God. We are going home.

The process of rebirth and ascension can be viewed simply as the raising of the vibratory rate of the Earth and her children. It is embodied in the state of consciousness that knows the self as divine. The circlet, or crown, is a symbol of recognizing and knowing that divine self. So the crown as a sacred tool is a universal symbol of the completion of a circle of self-empowerment and self-authority. Full ascension is the freedom to take your physical form with you to other planes and dimensions. In preparation for the ascension, there is an opening and clearing of your light seals and chakras. If you choose to walk this path, know that in the embodiment of your “I Am” self, you will learn to accept all things unconditionally, forgiving and releasing all judgments of yourself and others. The activation of solar mind and ascension is already in progress. In divine fusion, you are becoming the one body of the ascension.

Be at peace. Ahau indicates that the activation of ascension, your solar mastery, is already in progress. Stay identified with the power of the Sun. Sail on golden solar currents to your home in the stars! Move joyfully toward whatever creates bliss and ecstasy for you! Forgive, release, and love all beings, all creation, as the unconditional caress of the Sun. Honor and trust the language of light held within your feelings, spiritual compass that guides you home. Open your heart as a flower to the Sun, and become the same love that holds universes together!

Shadow Wisdom and Transformation

In the shadow of Ahau, you may be unaware of or feel disconnected from your own true nature. Thus, the light of Ahau reflects your shadow’s potential. On this journey, you are being offered release from all past identities, lifetimes, and karma. This process retrieves any separated parts of self, restoring all potential into the union of wholeness. By facing and integrating your shadows, you can free yourself into the greater constellation of being.

The shadow of Ahau also reflects your limiting views of self in relation to your concept of God. It is important to remember that how you see divinity is how you see yourself! If you do not see yourself as an integral part of the Divine you are functioning in the shadow of Ahau.

Another shadow of Ahau is conditional love, which is really part of the process of learning how to express unconditional love. Conditionality often implies fear, separation, and issues of self worth. Unconditionality expresses without judgment, limitation or expectation. Unconditional love is your original state of being, that which you naturally are.

You are the model of what it means to be fully human. In Ahau’s shadow are the ideals of society. Look at your personal ideals. You are being asked to release them and to embody the limitless principles of the light. As you become a model of loving acceptance, shadow and light embrace as one, and the world is lifted. You become the new myth emerging. Through the embodiment of unconditional love, one person at a time, the new world is born.

Planetary Dog Moon (April 4-May 1)

Native Name: LAHUN [la-hoon] Qualities: intention, motivation, true identity, foundation of Essence Self, aligned manifestation

Passkey to true identity in this and all worlds, unlock the gates to the Great Mystery manifesting through you.

Ten is the ray of manifestation, the foundation of individual self manifesting its true identity, the foundation of Essence Self. A potent manifestation awaits you. Two worlds combine. The key to manifestation in all realms is through clear intention and the embodiment of your divine essence. What does your heart desire to manifest? Begin by aligning with your essence. Essence aligned with intention creates an etheric thoughtform, an “energy matrix image.” As long as it is unrestricted by limiting beliefs, the energy pattern emerges and evolves. As it evolves, it aligns with the larger pattern until finally it is released into manifestation.

Ten asks you to look carefully at your own foundations. What structures and belief systems is your reality built on? What foundations motivate your choices? You are now creating a new foundation, walking into all that you are – your Essence Self. As the foundation of your Essence Self emerges, others will recognize your true identity. When you are in resonance with the universe, manifestation is a natural by-product.

Spectral Serpent Moon (May 2-May 29)

Eleven is the process of disintegration, stripping away the layers down to your core essence. Unity, the great illuminator, is transforming patterns and structures, freeing you from things that no longer serve your emerging wholeness. Look through the surface appearance of your process. Let complexity dissipate, becoming the blessing of simplicity.

Eleven asks you to reexamine, illuminate, and transform your cherished ideals, beliefs, and images of all kinds. Examine what appears dissonant in your life. Let go! Embrace the disintegration process without resisting or judging it. The rigid walls of your resistances are being broken down. Going through your resistances and boundaries prepares a space for greater wisdom. You are becoming an open system. Anything that defines you is being stripped away. Expect clearing and change. As your façade crumbles and your walls come tumbling down, the true illumination of self bursts through!

All parts make up a greater whole. Draw on the wisdom, strength, and stability you derive as a member of the greater council. No matter what your experience, there is a complex stability in the larger pattern that invites you to feel stable as you expand and evolve. Living in a world of polarities, yet knowing that all parts are one in the unified whole, creates the underlying framework of connectedness. The hologram of polarity is simply the structure, the loom upon which worlds and realities are woven.

Stability is a matter of perception. Find where you can openly flow and expand in the midst of seeming complexity. Utilize the relationships created by polarity to explore and expand any self-limiting construct. Open your perceptions. Through you, the mysterious balance of the cosmos is fulfilled.
